Broken Bindings: Rossignol - Scratch SAS 120 TI

http://www.getboards.com/snow/bindings/rossingol09/scratch120.htmlI was at my local mountain today and I jumped on a curved, slanted c box and my ski came off unusually as I was on the rail.

I checked out the binding of the ski that fell off to notice that the two front screws in the toe piece were missing and the plastic around one of the screws under the toe of the boot had been cracked and the binding was no longer held to the ski except for the remaining screw. Also the plastic under the binding was cracked.

So normally I was a little pissed. I bought these bindings late november, ski'd less than twenty days on them (including my backyard rail) and they were broken.

So what should I do now? I don't want to go back to the store and get the same bindings that break really easily. I don't think the store will give me another pair or my money back, will they? Should I call Rossignol and send them the bindings? Will they give me my money back or just another pair of the shitty bindings that break?

My brother broke the same binding today. The heel piece totally broke off. Quite a sight to see the ski going Mach 10 down Breck.

Bindings can be awful things. I would say that should be covered under warranty, but you will get the same pair of bindings. You could see if the store will let you trade bindings you get on warranty for a different pair, that's the only method I can see to solve your problem.

call rossi. that is warranty able. you can ask and they may let you upgrade bindings for a small fee but quite possibly you just got a defective binding.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'm gunna try to get rossi to send me a new pair of the same bindings. But otherwise I think I'm gunna pick up a new pair because why the hell would I want to risk my safety skiing bindings that I know break. I'm probably gunna sell the ones rossi sends me.

well you see, thats why it is warranty able, your binding was probably defective. a number of things could have happened, it could be a random bastard child that got pumped out of the factory, maybe it had air bubbles formed in the plastic. it probably didnt break just cause its a shitty binding though. also what was your din set at? if it is high it probably isnt the binding. bindings are ment to function best in the middle of their din range. so for a 12 it should be in the 6-10 range 8 being about the best for that particular binding. if the din is too high the retention may be greater than the strength of the actuall binding. ask for the next step up in binding if you are woried since it will be more burly.
