Broke my back//recovery

The other day I managed to compound fracture 2 vertebrae in my upper/middle back at park city. I went to the hospital right after and was there the rest of the day but they let me leave without a brace, and just told me to "take it easy" until my follow up in two weeks. I never saw xrays and the never really told me which ones are fractured. I feel like for the sake of my recovery I feel like I should have a brace or something; it just seems abnormal to be cleared to walk around with a broken back.

Can anyone who's had the similar/same injury fill me in on recovery time, PT exercises, ongoing issues etc.? Any help is appreciated NS

Just dont go to the hill or anywhere where you will be tempted to do stupid shit that u shouldnt with a broken back

My friend overshot a backflip straight to his head in late February. He broke 5 vertabrae. He was walking without a brace the next day. The doctors told him 6 weeks then he needs to go back. But I'd be sketched out about not seeing X-rays/know what's broken. Find that info out. It's kind of important.

Wait, what? you compound fractured 2 vertebrae but dont know which ones?

A) why arent you paralyzed?

B) why cant you just fucking ask literally anyone to tell you where the open fucking wounds are on your back... or use a mirror?

I first broke my back 3 years ago (2 fractures), then it was kind of serious and I had to stay in the hospital for the first 3 days and were a brace for 3 or 4 months (wasn't even allowed to lift up my MacBook the first month or so). Anyways then it took me like 6/7 months before I could go skiing or doing anything similar and I still have some problems with it but nothing to bad now.

Then this season I knuckled a jump really bad and collapsed down so that my ass hit the snow pretty hard, my back hurt like hell afterwords but I managed to ski down by my self and took some pain killers and was back instructing after one day (not any park just instructing beginners). After 2 weeks of pain I finally decided it was time to get it checked out and to my surprise it turned out I had partly fractured another vertebrae so I had been out working as an ski instructor every day for 2 weeks with a fracture in my back. The doctor told me since I had already been out so much and it was a stable fracture it was nothing to really worry about as long as I didn't do anything that hurts to bad and stayed away from jumps etc. for a couple more weeks.

So bottom line just trust your doctor and I don't think you have anything to worry about, just take it easy as the doc told you to and I'm sure you will be fine.

Yeah if you had a compound fracture and your vertebrae were poking out of your back, the doctor would not tell you to "take it easy" and send you home... You would be in ICU. I'm guessing this is a compression fracture?

I would reach out to Ebola. I might of heard from somewhere that he broke his back like a douche bag. I am not sure on that though. Maybe he's created a thread about it?
