Britain’s Got Skiers 2013
Ski
+ Edit Competition plus Film
Do you want to see
your skiing edit featured on a DVD with nationwide exposure?
The most interesting
and exciting skiing competition in the UK is now open for entries. It doesn't
matter if you're not the greatest skier in the country, that's the beauty of
this competition. All it takes is a little bit of stoke. Just get together 3
minutes of skiing from this summer or the previous season, and put it into a
short film. It doesn't matter if it's a backcountry adventure in Scotland,
indoor park riding in the UK, epic steep descents, mellow powder days or even
intense ski-cross action. It’s not only about the riding content, this comp is
as much about the editing as the riding. We encourage anyone with a camera and
an editing suite on their computer to have a go. We just want to see films that
get the viewer amped and remind them why skiing means something to them.
Prizes are available
for best overall edit (£500 cash) and runner up, best skier under 16 (GoPro
Helmet Camera), a Judges Special Prize based on creativity (GoPro Helmet
Camera), best female and best slam. Last year saw numerous freeride edits, so
this year we are introducing a new freeride category for unsponsored skiers
(set of Movement Crew skis, plus clothing and the scope for further sponsorship
from Movement). In addition to these prizes there will be monthly spot prizes
run through the BGS Facebook page too.
To enter, upload your
final edit onto our BGS Facebook site. The best edits will be chosen at the end
of August. The site is available to view with all the entries as the
competition progresses. Once the finalist’s edits have been selected, they will
be produced into a movie produced by our in-house editor, Eddie ‘Slavemonkey’
Thelwell, for the premier and general release at the London Ski Show.
Finalist’s edits included in the film will be announced weekly over the month
of September and shown on the Ellis Brigham website. The overall winners of
their categories will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the
premiere. The film will then be distributed through our stores with over 1500
copies handed out and this year will see the film
available for download online.
