...is the best drummer in the world right now. i don't think anyone really comes close. if you sit down and listen to what he does, it's really spectacular. i saw him live twice last year, and that, too, was mindblowing and inspiring.

ssuuuuuuuch a beast. i saw him with wayne shorter's quartet and got to hear the whole quartet speak beforehand, and it was awesome. wayne shorter is kind of crazy, but an awesome guy.
 
i'm not really into dmb, but carter beauford is a pretty cool drummer. he totally sees everything differently than anyone else. i'd still take blade though, he makes everything sound sooooo good while playing some of the craziest stuff you'll hear. i heard beauford played with bela fleck and the flecktones, though. i should check that out.
 
im not a huge dmb guy either..i just like how carters drumming flows with everything else, at times blade seems a little spastic
 
idk man, to me blade MAKES the song. especially jazz crimes ^, the whole thing is so awesomely shocky, and then it goes into the b, and it just sort of sails. he definitely looks spastic though. if you watch him play live, he has the time of his life, and sort of looks like a guy in a straightjacket with the top 2 buttons unhooked. just has the craziest, biggest grin on his face and just gets all the totally awesome sounds out of the drums, and kills it. also, he totally knows how to get out of the way for a soloist, so it's not like he just smacks the drums. he's got a great musical sense.
 
oh, theres no doubt in my mind that we are talking about two of the great percussionists to roam the earth, ive just always been a huge fan of carter...but blade is dope and yes, he makes the song
 
Yea bro, been playin for a little over 8 years now...played in a band that opened for bands like the plain white ts (before they blew up) the expendables and the disco biscuits.

that's awesome, one of the guys from the disco biscuits went to the high school where i'm going. and you talking about your setup makes me again realize how woefully inadequate mine is. i have a 12*5 peal firecracker (which i actually love), 20' zildjian k series flat ride (which i actually love), and the rest is an 8 year old abortion of a cp set. i play my friend's set (nice ludwig centennial) if we're playing somewhere, plus my ride and snare. damn my inability to spend money on anything other than bikes or skis.
 
ludwigs are solid man, i love the sound...is that centennial birch. I dont think ill buy another wood, birch just sounds the best imo. +k for drummers!
