BREWSCHOOLERS

I just sealed 10 liters of apple wine into primary, super hyped to see how it turns out. Started at around 1.100 OG, so I'm expecting around 15-16% final abv.

Anyone else fuck with homebrewing?

I've always wanted to brew some beer or wine

It's absurdly easy, all the equipment necessary is around 80 bucks and ingredients are dirt cheap, literally just grain/grape concentrate, sugar and yeast

how do u know ur making the right kind of alcohol and not the kind that might make u go blind if u drink it? always wondered that.

As far as I know, methanol (shit that blinds you) is only a concern once you distill the alcohol, because it gets concentrated in the first ~10% of the distillate. In brewing methanol isn't a concern

Hell yeah dude. Been homebrewing beer for the last 4 years or so. Started with extract and shifted to all-grain after a couple batches. Big fan.

My Irish stout recipe is pretty much where I want it, and my citra pale has gotten pretty reliable too. Did a cucumber kolsch as a random experiment and it’s pretty much the best summer beer I can think of. Will brew again this summer.

Irish stout sounds really good, I'm planning on running a seltzer after my cider finishes up

I’ve always wanted to brew my own beer, but I feel like the time, knowledge, and effort required to create something high quality is high compared to driving down the street and grabbing something new and delicious each week. There are a couple places near me that do small-batch contract brewing with “guidance” from their master brewers which I think would be fun and wouldn’t utilize garage space, but meh. I don’t know. Guess I’m just lazy. Plus, I have to keep drinking new shit every week to boost that Untappd number, right?

Ohh citra pale ale sounds like something I’d like very much

Not for a long time but made a great wheat pilsner with 6 row barley and hallertau hops but made the floor a sticky mess.

Came in expecting a coffee / hot brew thread.

Leaving disappointed

I do like me a nice black tea. But you haven't lived until your kitchen smells like yeast, alcohol, and apples because you keep forgetting to throw away the apples you picked from you backyard apple tree 3 months ago that you never ended up eating.
