me and some homies are going to Breck this winter, and im wondering if any of you guys who have been could tell me what its like. its gonna be my first trip out west so im pretty curious. also, how are their parks, my friend said they have a 'beginner park' which could be nice for us since were still progressing

ski breck every day.

1. Its really crowded. if you go during a less crowded time of the year its really fun.

2.the park is unbelievable jumps are always so good its so worth it.

3.its really windy.

4. kestone is really fun

idk how beginner you are, but Vail and Beaver Creek are the go-to spots IMO for smaller stuff (Beaver Creek for the easiest). They are also not crowded.

Breck and Key are great, but they're more geared towards medium-large features. Their smaller stuff sucks except for (is it Area 51?) at Keystone. Also, both Breck and Key parks are super busy, so that's another reason to stay away.

double post, but I'll make it useful.

If it's an option and you wanna start really small, start with like Park 101 at Beaver Creek. It's at the top of the mountain, and when you get out of the park the runs are still fun because of the trees and whatnot, and it's steep. Then Zoom Room. I used to love BC because it's pretty empty, but I had one hell of a time last year getting my rythm down for the jump lines in Zoom Room and Bonanza.

Then go to Vail. Their medium and big park are basically integrated like Keystone. Still empty.

Park Lane at Breck is the best park I've ever been to (at least the jumps), but you really pay for it with the crowd and waiting in queue to hit the jumps. God damn, do you wait.

Keystone/I70 is decent and less crowded than Breck, so not a bad option. Their park is huge and there is plenty of stuff to move on to.

Also the problem with Breck and especially Keystone in my opinion, is the transition between smaller rails and bigger, technical rails. Vail has this gray area covered really well. Lots of technical rails, but they aren't huge.

so wait, thats in breck or is beaver creek a seperate place i need to pay for, because we have it all planned to be at breck for 4 days

Even if you have only planned to ski at breck, the pass you buy should work at key and a bay. It might also work at Beaver Creek and Vail. All of these are different resorts that are within 30 minutes of each other. If you go to breck, be prepared to be super humbled because the groms, ams and pros all shred harder than you. And when hitting jumps at breck especially, don't wait to long for your turn to drop. Be aggressive and confident when you drop.

and don't fall, because there is a pretty good chance somebody is following right behind you. That's why I hate it. The jumps are the best there are, but you have to be super aggressive.

This is where skiierman is supposed to jump in and say something like if you are throwing things you might not land, you don't belong in the park. Fuck progression, right?

Nah, rails are fairly chill at Keystone and Breck. It's the jump line in Park Lane at Breck that is the shit show, but they're great jumps

if you are a beginner you probably are not going to like breck's park.

I mean the peak 9 park is pretty damn beginner. Even so, park lane gets so huge during the season it's not hard to stay out of people's way if you want to learn.

I feel like the more important question here is why are you making your "first trip out west" just to hit some jumps at the bottom of the mountain?
