Breakdown NS cost

can someone break down the cost of NS for us, so maybe we'll have a better light to why they need to make it a pay site please?

i understand why youre asking for accountability, but what, you think they don't need the money? you think the admin will just pocket it?

I don't know costs (only the admins do), but I know right now that cost of running site > $$ that site makes.

add in increased traffic, new features which need money, and the fact that the admins have to be able to eat, and you'll see why.

they have other jobs I would hope. It doesn't make sense, this site claims to have 62,000+ members and is thinking about asking for $2 a month from them. I think wee need some sort of break down because that would be a lot of money.

 
i say a yearly member ship of 10 bucks max. even if only half the members come back thats still 300,000 dolars which i doubt it cost more that 6000 a year to run the site.

There shouldnt be a need for members to pay. Think about it, There are on average 500+ freeskiers on the website at all times. Now, if I was the marketing dude for some Ski Resort, Ski Company, etc i would tap this resourse. NS is a perfect place to advertise and get your company information out to LOADS of people. And, recently I've noticed tons more companies advertising with NS which is excellent! Ideally, the site will be able to stay free as long as they keep pulling in money from the Sponsors.

the problem is there aren't enough sponsers, and most places aren't willing to sponser us for some reason. That has been tried, and that would be ideal, but it isn't working.

no i trust the site, and the admins, but a breakdown for some understanding would be nice, plus people may finaly relize that they aught to donate, it really is worth it, but now with a membership fee coming donating sorta has lost it's vibe

Isnt it obvious where the money will go. STRIPPERS. Seriously thoughI am all for itit. I understand why it could suck to have to pay esp if mommy and daddy say no but it is really for the good I really hope they go through with it!!

Theres no way in hell that you can expect 60000 people to pay money. There are not actually that many people. A lot of people have like 5 names and a lot of people will sign up and never return. All you have to do is look in the members section. Just look at how many people have signed up like in 02, 03 etc. and have 0 posts. In reality I think with the amount of people willing to pay you will make peanuts. Then you will want to charge more which will turn more people away. Basically I think a decision like this is digging this site it's own grave.

 
maybe Mr. Bishop should spend more time doing his job. Magazines make enough to cover costs, why can't NS. Set up a system where there is a fee area and a advertisign area. Like many P2Ps have. Pay a fee to recive no adversing, but go over the top with advertising, like have a lot of it for people who don't pay the fee. I'm not sure if that is feasible.

i think monthly would be to tough easier to pay yearly

Yea ifg u think about it at $2 a month yea thats 24 bux a year. Yea thats doulbe a mag subscription but here u get just as many pictures some even the same. Alot of us are on here everyday off season or not. U only get like 5 or 6 mags a year. There is no interaction through a mag. I think its totally worth it!!

you all assume that tehre are 60,000+ active members...a large portion of those members don't even remember their passwords anymore... so yeah...they def, wouldn't make hundreds of thousands a year

if you can't afford new shit for the site without making people pay then just don't do it.
