Brake width on k2 Poacher + mounting point

Hi there,

I've bought K2 Poachers so I also need new bindings. I can get a deal on Tyrolia Attack 13 (2017) with 85mm brakes/stoppers included. I read that brakes come a bit wider than mentioned so I was wondering wether these will fit on my 96mm poachers? I prefer not to bend them too much because I'm not that handy.

Additional question: Which mounting point do you guys suggest? I consider myself an advanced all-mountain skier (20 years experience, skiing 15 days a year in the European alps) and a beginner in the park (flat rails, 180's, basic grabs on the bigger jumps).

Thanks in advance!

.5cm on each side is a bit much out of brakes even if tyrolia brakes measure a little wider than stated. I'd honestly get a 95mm brake instead.

for mounting. go with recommended if you ski that much outside the park.

If you have the tools and skills to bend them if they’re too small, go for it, if not then I’d get some with larger brakes.

In terms of mounting, is go with recommended if don’t ski a ton of park.

mount at recommended for sure

re: brake width, deals on Attacks are pretty plentiful esp right now, can you not get them with a 95 brake for a similarly good price?

i think the 85 would prob be fine, certainly would be with a little bending if need be, but there's no real downside to getting the 95s unless you found some crazy deal on the ones with 85s that you won't find elsewhere or if you live somewhere where you don't have a ton of options. is that the case?

Depending on the shop where you get them mounted they might just throw the wider brakes on. Brakes for attacks, sths, wardens and marker royal series are usually plentiful and easy to swap unlike pivots. IF not you could find brakes for dirt cheap.

k2 poacher 2020 has a few different marks.

on top of ski, there is a line in topsheet, this goes to core center, or 0cm mark

then on side of ski you have a -7,5 mark, marked "tradiotinal" and you have 1cm marks in betweeen 0 to 7.5

in addition you have a line on ski that says "midesole" which seems to be about 5.75cm

use the side marking for where the midsole should be. screened on graphics for midsole can be off from ski to ski. I've measured out both K2 and Line skis to where they mark midsole and it's been off on many skis i've mounted

Thanks for the replies! I'm gonna go with the recommended mounting.

For the bindings and brakes I eventually found a local ski shop that sells tyrolia attack 13's (2020) with 95mm brakes for $135. This is cheaper than the deal (with the 85mm brakes) I mentioned earlier so I guess I'm a lucky man. Cheers!
