Boycott Boyne Resorts!!!

There has been quite the firestorm on TGR about this issue - apparently a season pass holder at Sugerloaf, ME had his pass taken away because he posted critical comments about management on a third party website. Whether or not the comments were appropriate is immaterial - Boyne Resorts should not be punishing its guests for voicing perfectly legal and legitimate viewpoints. Maybe in this flies in China, but Boyne needs to be taught a lesson that this is not acceptable behavior in a free and open society.

What if your home resort took your pass because you posted a thread on Newschoolers saying the parks suck? This is not far removed from what happend to "exiled".

wow, really? that's super lame. any idea as to what he said? I know what he said doesn't really matter for the situation at hand, but to me, this means that whatever he said was probably very accurate and they took a lot of offense to it.

I am taking this close to heart because my local ski hill has been doing a lot of stuff that I really don't agree with at all over the past few years and they're getting worse in my opinion. I am vocal about my thoughts, and the thought of the hill taking my pass away is just...

...ya know... whoever that was that had his pass taken away could probably take legal action against Boyne Resorts. Not only would he win, he would put the spotlight on Boyne for the issues that they are trying to ignore by trying to shut him up and kick him out.

yea, so i just looked into the situation further and read the tgr thread about it, and I agree. Until Boyne and Sugarloaf publicly apologize for their actions against the guy they banned, a boycott is in order.

Shit, my list of hills to boycott is getting bigger. Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, Boyne Resorts, Grouse Mountain... what the hell is happening to the North American ski world? seriously... when did non skiers take over ski resort management?

maybe some day a company like boyne will be able to realize that those who criticize their mountains are often the skiers who are the most dedicated and care the most about those mountains.

boyne is the the resort management that TURNED DOWN TRANSWORLD SUPERPARK at big sky last year. fucking brilliant

i bet boyne is within in its legal rights, if not within ethical boundaries. ski resorts don't have to have a reason to take your pass legally.

thats fucked. and sounds pretty stupid. i would feel bad for anyone getting their pass taken. that shit would blow

you want to boycott them?

the easy way is to abuse the inter-resort lift tickets. ive gotten full day tickets for free because the people at the window didnt know there shit.

try it.

well i would, but then i wouldnt get to ski at big sky, so fuck that. but i do agree some of the shit that gets pulled by boyne is ridiculous

here is a list of boyne resorts:

Big Sky,

Boyne Highlands,

Boyne Mountain,

Brighton,

Crystal Mountain, WA

Cypress, BC canada

Catlinburg Sky Lift,

Loon,

Sugarloaf,

Sunday River

Summit at Snoqualmie

Boyne sucks fat donkey dicks for this one. And i dont have a pass there so you cant do shit to me for my e-slander. You sound like a 16 yr old girl that had bad comments on her myspace page. Grow up!!

This was copied off of the TGR thread, its posted by one of their PR reps or someone with the company:

All,
I am following all this chatter and seemingly hypersensitive reactions to a refund of a season pass and revoking of access privileges for this season.
All I can say is - I will assure you we will review the situation and respond accordingly. Jim Costello has had direct contact with this situation and has been dealing directly with the incredibly painful situation with the family of that very unlucky young girl who lost her life doing what we all love so much.
However, for 60 yrs we have managed resorts with intent toward mutual respect. Having a unilateral policy of parting ways with customers who aren't adhering to that objective of mutual respect has been long standing. Aka that last line in the season pass list.
Sugarloafers have a unique sense of ownership and sometimes that sense of ownership seems to border on disrespect for those who have given their career to being the caretakers of this great place. That makes sense to me but does not make it right or effective. The Diller and others bashing is not amusing or helpful.
Hopefully, this forum can be one of less irrational conspiracy theory and more objective feedback and dialogue. If it does not it will become shut out, as a source of information and those who participate will be not welcome to enjoy that great mountain.
Giving someone back their hard-earned money and saying "think about your actions" and with proper healing we will welcome you back in the future is not out of line in my opinion. Throughout our history and throughout the resort network there are thousands of such cases albeit pre-social media...
This move was not about curtailing free speech or moral policing this forum. It is about making it a point that those who engage in certain actions or hurtful ridicule will not be welcome on property - as determined by local management. If you have an issue, I suggest you book an appointment to meet and discuss you issues with John Diller personally. You will never meet a more dedicated and committed man to Sugarloaf.
Being a newbie into this social circle, I am still learning all the baggage that everyone seems to come to this party with, however we will push our team there in Maine and elsewhere to endeavor work to understand through open, honest communication the issues. We expect that same from those who profess their love of that wonderful place.
We will be involved for many decades to come...so we must learn to live together in a manner that is respectful so we can all succeed. Boyne Resorts in business and Sugarloafers in gaining a better place to spend your precious recreational time.
Respectfully,
SK

there is a link in the original post. I spent all day today reading the sugarloaf forum and the tgr forum. I should probably take back my hate towards Sugarloaf because those employees and locals have had a hard time to deal with ASC and now Boyne. I say fuck coporate ski mtns. skiiers dont like your shit only gapers enjoy your newly renovated hands free urinals.

are you serious! its in the thread creators post, all over the thread, someone even posted the text right above you

wow so lame...this happened to me and 3 of my friends last year, we jumped a lift and they pulled our passes and it was going to be temporary, i made a thread on NS and the only real negative thing in it was that i called one of the patrollers fat (he was.......) and said they were making a huge deal out of it or something. my friend took the thread i made and posted it on TGR and the fat patroller saw it i guess and they told us when we asked for our passes back that we might have but now had no chance because of the "TGR incident"

they were the ones who also were on tgr saying we were gapers and totally sucked and slashed it.

1. we dressed like gapers for fun that day.

2. the only part that got slashed off was on steep part where one of us made a wide turn and it sluffed down about 50 yds of snow.

its legal to do if its on private land. stupid and will get them very bad press, but legal. he also got his money back.

if i were him, id say fuck you guys thats for half a year of free skiing and go somewhere better.

so he was banned for saying this

"Nice work-in at the bottom of the article by marketing to assure potential Cu$tomers that the death was not related to conditions...."

really? banned for that? rediculous

not quite the same. you actually did something on the mountain to have your pass taken away.

oh yeah i know dude its not the same, just that i got my pass permanently taken in the end because i expressed my opinion on the internet, and a guy who took offense to it had pull enough to keep it suspended.

The worst part about the East Coast are the snobby self-entitled upper class assholes who are too common in the skiing community over there.
