Bouldering

This may or may not be a repost, I apoligize in advance if it is. But anyway, anyone here on NS into bouldering? I used to be super into it before I strained my tendons and couldn't climb for over a year, and I'm just now getting back into it.

I love it for the pure simplicity, you don't need a lot of "stuff", everything you really need to boulder you can get for less than $250. I know it gets hate from purist trad or alpine climbers but it's such a fun sport, not to mention a great workout.

Heres some vids, the second one is from where I live and climb.

this. If someone else wants to lead climb and set up all the ropes then I'm game but usually I'll just find a nice spot to boulder which isnt too hard in WA

^I second everything just said. Theres just something so chill and 'zen' about just climbing, without worrying about all the ropes and belays and whatnot. Just one of the best ways to spend time, and theres just such awesome climbing around 11worth.

You just gotta find spots where you can get to the top. With a trail and set up that way. Makes life so much easier.

Or some climbs where you repel first and then climb back up.

can i join the club ? :)

i live like 3h away from fontainebleau (the bouldering mecca) and 30 minutes from this gym:

^^used to be on their youth team and building team but since i've gone to college i've been slacking :/

i always liked bouldering more than ropes. I have a tough time trusting my life to a rope and someone belaying me.

get shoes and a chalkbag. thats all you need. then go to a climbing gym. i know there's one in richmond because my climbing coach used to be the manager there. meet fellow climbers. explore outside for sick bouldering spots. get strong and ripped. have fun.

as for me, i suck at bouldering because i'm not strong in the sense of short, powerful movements. i'm working to get better at it though. i enjoy lead climbing the most though. nothing more exciting than taking a whipper and then sending the same route the next try. feels great.

just started getting into this recently. actually looking to buy some shoes. can anyone give me advice?

I was real into bouldering a few years ago, and kind of strayed away from it, but I'm getting back into it more recently. Does anyone have a good place to find cheap crash pads. Are used ones even found anywhere? I mostly climb in gyms but I'd like to actually get out and go places.

I've had a really hard time finding used ones. You could get decent ones new though for around 140 on Backcountry or Amazon or whatnot. I think your best bet is just to look around and compare prices, or talk to people you know locally.

I boulder way more than I ski haha. If any of you guys are down south I'd love to show you some sick problems
