Boots tight of loose?

loose boots allow your feet to slide around, that is what leads to shinbang. I myself buy my boots small and tight, and then will stretch/grind them to get the perfect fit. I like my boots to fit like a second layer of skin, with no movement at all, besides being able to wiggle my toes a bit.

definately tight, i feel like in the park you need them tight for doing any butters or presses and in the powder they definately need to be so they are more responsive

tight boots suck, for me they need to be at least loose enought to pull my favorite ssx tricks like the "foot out o booter" and the "cross legged 50 50 foot switch"

thats what she said

oh!

but really, crank those tight and pull that booster strap all the way

For non-park skiing that is true. But for park skiing, there can't be any space for your leg to move (to prevent shinbang).

i like when my boots are nice and snug, but loose at the same time.

i got sick of feeling like forrest gump with his leg braces on, so i ran them off.

loose for me i love to ski park and a bit of pow
really fun in pow cos it fells like a natural park to me

cant believe some of you are saying loose! my legs/feet wouldnt be able to stand that. i tie mine as tight as possible

I always have liked it tight and stiffer, I feel you get the most power transfer and have more control over your skis

ya thats what i was thinking. when your boots are loose your shin has more room to move making it able to slam or "bang" your shin on the shin plate i like my boots tight at the shin and ankle and then room at the toes so i can wiggle them

Definitely tight/well-fitted. My current boots are a crap fit and they make skiing so much harder and more effort than it should be.

QFT. I packed my liners out last season pretty bad though, I definitely was kind of cranking them at the end of the season.

Same here, I've needed new boots for far too long. I can't afford any this season either though. =(

haha seriously. im pretty sure they pose and say they can do stuff they actually cant. if they could actually ski they would realize having a loose boot= a ton more shin bang. unless they ski rails all the time *cough* parkrats *cough* then a loose boot is fine for them.

I like them tighter than the average person, but not to tight because like someone above said it cause pressure points and just hurts, but the main reason i don't like them loose is my socks start to shift around and i hate it.

for a second I thought this was the Ladies Men forum and I was like, DAMN, what kind of kinky shit is Ben into now?

rly depends on what ur doing. big lines and bumps = tight boot more responsive

park = loose, less shin bang more give for casing, and sick grabs

If I'm planning on skiing a long day and/or its cold out I'll keep my boots reasonably loose. My boots are like 10 years old and molded to my feet though, so they fit "tight" even if the buckles are pretty loose. I get good control and can ski all day in bumps, pow, and park... If I'm doing something I want more control on, I just crank em down for a run or two and then loosen them up again afterwards.

ill sometimes run my uppers (ilmoros) looser for more flexation in the park, but everything else, nice and snug.

and btw, helpful hint for eliminating toe bang:

Dr scholls pad cut up and fit around the outside of the toe box of your liner. lil duct tape to hold it in place (do it while your feet are in the liner tho so they arnt too tight). if you dont have enough room, you can taper down/remove footbed material from under your toes. works like a charm, even in snug boots. other option is silicone caulk.

just thought id throw that out there.

I don't even understand the point of this thread; boots were made to be worn as they were intended to be worn (buckled). If you're not buckling your boots, then your boot is improperly fitted. For boot related problems, the answer is always

BOOTFITTER

BOOTFITTER

BOOTFITTER.

I don't care what you say; I wear my boots as they were intended to be worn and as my bootfitter suggests. And I've never had boot problems. Strange how that works, isn't it?

it makes my heard hurt when i think why someone would want loose boots.
nomen has said the best things in this thread. (typical lol)
the only thing i like different with my boots is a slightly larger toe box(since my foot is a fucking boat hahah)
if i was skiing pow 100% of the time (dreams i know) they would fit like a tight leather glove
