Boot Skiing is illegal.

Bunch of my friends and i decided to take a run going down the hill on just our boots no skis because the
skiing was kind of boring and the snow was reallllly icy. We went to double lift and we were rejected by
the lifties, we had gone boot skiing before so we decided to make our way to the other lift for another try.
we got on the lift succesfully, however when we got to the top of the hill we were informed that our ski's
had been impounded and we could pick them up at the main desk. The lifty at the top said that we
couldn't boot ski down the hill but he wouldnt let us ride the lift back down. We didnt have an alternative
way to get down so we had to boot ski. We then made our way to the main desk not knowing what would
be our punishment. Well we all got our passes clipped and they told us we would be recieving a phone
call from police because it was "Theft of Service" I have not recieved a phone call from the police but
i want my pass back.

Anyone else had any run-in's with boot skiing problems?

that in no way is theft of service. - your lift ticket or season pass intitles you to LIFT ACCESS only. the waiver you sign when you get your pass is basically you signing yourself off in case you are injured on the resorts 'recreational area'

and just another point - its not theft of service because the only service they provide when you are on the hill is a) lifts and b) ski patrol monitoring the hill.- the way you get down the hill is not a service offered by them. its merely a recreational activity

That blows, in Europe we spend most mornings boot skiing, I mean for god sake half the instructors do it... umm I guess just go and argue your case, if you weren't told that you couldn't boot ski then you can't be done for the first lot, and so long as you make it clear that the liftie wouldn't let you ride it back down, and you had no option then they should be cool about it, alternatively come over here and boot ski all day long...

wtf theft of services means like poaching the mountain without buying a ticket, if you bought tickets boot skiing is by no means theft of service so just tell them to fuck off (politely)

youll be fine. they give theft of services tickets when people use other people season passes or just sneak on the mountain. theres nothing ILLEGAL about boot skiing where they could ticket you but theyll just kick you out. thats really stupid though

damn that blows, well you know what u have to do! lace up ur boots, grab ur gat and get back whats rightfully urs!

i would keep asking for someone higher up on the chain and keep explaining your case. if you can get the owner and tell them your story they might not care at all and have the charges dropped because that's just retarded.

this is pretty funny. I learned my lesson about fucking around at ski resorts. Employees take it way over the top. You need to question yourself, did you really think the lift operators would look the other way as you got on the lift?

are you kidding me! thats fucking rediculouse! Theft of service? Maybe cause its dangerouse but still thats fucked im sure there is no sign or ANYWHERE wher it says "no bootskiing", tell them that you didnt see any signs or whatever, and the lifty who let you up should be in shit if theyr so pissed off , not you guys

Ahhh thats such bullshit!!

That's stupid. Post up the resort email address I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like allot of angry skiiers emailing them about how gay they are.

I thought this was going to be a joke thread or something. I wouldn't even take that seriously if i was law enforcement. They want to give you a criminal record, because you slid down their hill in only ski boots? lol

haha theft of service? since when is riding up a lift without your skis on theft of service, Whistler does that for 1000s of tourists all summer long.

We used to do it all the time, although we were going up a gondola, so we made it seem like we were just going to look around the top.

There's your problem. CNY is maybe the worst place in the world. I know there are some legit dudes on here that ride and work at Togg, but for chirst sake, i got the 10th degree for not having a leash on my snowboard, wtf is that all about!?! Old crotchity lifty guy threatened to throw me off the mountain if i attempted to "sneak on" without one...i live in VT and no one gives a shit here, it was an honest mistake an i got treated like a criminal. weak.

did you have a seasons there or just a day pass?

thats definitely not theft of services. maybe breaking the rules or something, but the def accused you of the wrong thing.

its all insurances purpases man i work at my mountain and even if you have a pass your not allowed pass the gates you need all equipement to go further on the snow and take up the lift good luck yough bud

Bo- Andrew told me about this earlier and it confuses me. First off let me say in no way does the action taken against you and your friends represent the parks and park crew at Toggenburg. Most likely it was a result of a miscommunication between ski patrol and lift attendants although I have yet to hear anything from Tog's side. Rest assured I will be talking to whoever I can to get to the bottom of this. I don't condone the action taken against you in any way but pointing fingers at Tog will not help you out right now; as I said before it was most likely a miscommunication between lifties and ski patrol. Just hang in there, I assure you I will be doing whatever I can to get to the bottom of this. Sorry for the inconvenience,
Jack

I could understand not allowing boot skiing for safety and liability or something like that, but they can't just make up a bull shit charge like "Theft of Service".

I didnt mean and disrespect toward the togg park crew or park at all. Jack and nick and everyone else involved do a sick job each year building the best park possible for us CNY'ers to shred. it really was just a big misunderstanding.

My hill has signs all over the place saying "No Snowplay on Mt. High Property" so i guess they could get you for that, but nobody really cares about those signs or the ones telling you not to drink in the parking lot, or the ones telling you not to smoke on the chairlifts because its a damn mountain.

So yeah your mountain sounds whack.
