Boot fitter in upstate NY

im out of college and now live and work in watertown NY. there is NO ski shop here! I need new boots for this season and am looking for a good ski shop with a boot fitter. i was wondering if any of you local NSers could help a guy out. I figure my best option would be Lake Placid or Syracuse, or anywere in between. thanks

Check out vikings ski shop in plattsburg, they have been around for a while and know thier shit. There really isnt anywhere in Lake Placid accept maybe Maui North but I would say go with vikings as far as upstate NY goes

sounds like your further north than me, but i went to hunter mt and got a pair of full tilts there, the guy that was fitting me was sickk he knew quite a bit and got me a real nice fitting boot

i just did a check for some good boot fitters round you and the closest i kno of is at hunter pro ski and ride, i'd also suggest if you get near it green mt. orthotics at stratton or us orthotic center in ny city

thanks for the input guys +karma for all! When i got home from work tonight i had a flyer in the mail for a ski and snowboard expo in syracuse. according to the flyer they sell all the major brands at a pretty cheap price. I would assume they would have a fitter there, right? has anybody been to this before and how was it?

never been to the one in syracuse, but if its similiar to the one in albany its pretty legit, ours seems to sell more traditional ski gear rather than newschool gear, so nothings too huge and baggy or some of the more newschool companys, but you should be able to find a nice pair of boots, with some help from one of the shops reps

I dont like viking their arrogant preps. Maui north is a cool place I've got alot of good deals and advice there I usually go to the one in P-burg I 've been dealing with the ski rack in Burlington the last few months and i've been looking for a boot fitter too Matt Manser is theirs suposably he works with alot of pros and I'll be going to him when all the new stuff comes in PM me if you want his e-mail

i wouldnt go to ski market personally.. smaller privately owned shops seem better imo.

i wish mtn and boardertown was still around in lake placid. they were the best

Its a pretty big sale w/ a wide selection. Its run by Ski Company im pretty sure, which can be hit or miss when you go to the store locations. Sometimes you can get someone who really doesnt know anything at all. But that sale is pretty large so i think you should be able to find someone that knows a things or two.
