I need to pic a book for a independent study in my grade 12 english class. It has to be fiction and critically acclaimed.

I need serious help choosing one! I want to get a book that makes you think about shit. things like religion, society, culture, media, governmant. Ultimately a book that makes you look into things. I was wondering if anyone has any reccomendations.
 
Look up the book "nothing in this book is true, but it's exactly how things are".

And all other books by that author, I forgot his name. It's all awesome crazy spiritual stuff.
 
What is the nature of the essay?

Seeing as I just completed the same course (also live in ontario). Is it comparative to shakespeare or another required novel? Or is it just read a book and write an essay about something?
 
its not just an essay, we have to look at the book from different point of views, compare it to another book, talk about issue's it adress's amnd a bunch of shit. Its worht 20% of our mark
 
Catch 22-Joseph Heller

Slaughterhouse 5- Kurt Vonnegut

both are fictional histories, and awesome reads. slaughterhouse 5 is really short too hahaha

Great book about pat tillman, a football player who gave up everything to fight for the us in iraq.
