Bone chilling video... 10 years ago Ron Paul predicted it all

Seeing as a lot of those things had been going on for 30 years before he gave that speech, it's really not all that amazing. He is still the best thing the republicans have going for them though.

He was wrong about a few things. We haven't seen a large amount of inflation (in fact when the market crashed we went into a deflationary period for about a year), and interest rates haven't skyrocketed.

You mean like the USA and Israel going against the UN and the rest of the world on Palestine? Or arab disenfranchisement with the US? Or the US getting into a stupid, undeclared, and never really ending war?

Yeah, none of that ever happened before 2002. You're right.

I ain't even mad. I just think it's funny when people try to make a person into a prophet. Ron Paul is a smart guy and saw things coming based on facts that lots of other smart people saw too. He was also wrong about some things because he isn't god. The economic collapse wasn't because of excessive government regulation for example, it was pretty much the opposite. Dozens of decade's old laws on banking were repealed under Clinton/Bush, which led to the bubble of the early 2000s, followed by the crash of 2007/08. This wasn't because the government told the banks to do it, it was because the banks convinced the government to allow them to do it.

Anyway, TL;DR

watch inside job

inb4 Woozy with Peter Schiff videos

(Schiff predicted it all years ago as well and financial and market analysts literally were laughin in his face.

Who's laughin now?

Schiff was actually mostly wrong. He did correctly predict that the US market would crash (which plenty of people on all sides of the economic spectrum saw coming, the morons who work for CNBC exempted), but he predicted that the rest of the world be decouple from the US economy and not be affected. This turned out to be 100% wrong, and as a result, his clients portfolios lost 40-70% in 2008.

This. Man, I want to like Paul so much, but he just isn't quite there. He seems to see the world as being just a little too black and white and his foreign policy is just a little too isolationist.

The ironic thing about Ron Paul is that he actually is exactly what all Republicans try to be, yet they'll never make him their candidate.

It is pretty awesome that he is wise enough to predict all of that stuff back in 2002, I agree.

Someone said in the Youtube comments that the audio was muted in one part where he said they were going to bring back the draft. I noticed a clip of the audio being cut too. I just don't get why they would cut that... yes, he was wrong. He is not a prophet or god, he's human and we make mistakes so why cut it out? I would expect him not to be able to predict every single thing that happened. It would be unnatural if he could predict everything.

The stuff he did predict is pretty crazy though. Yes, anyone with a knowledge of history could have predicted the same facts. Just wondering though, why didn't they? I'm serious though, why don't we see videos of Romney or Obama making the same predictions? That's what made the video cool to me, the fact that they're just showing that he did predict it when not too many other people did.

I don't know, INB4 shitstorm and all that jazz. I'm not very educated in the subject or Ron Pauls beliefs, so just writing a sort of disclaimer here, to take anything that I said with a grain of salt.

lol is that fake? Cuz he predicted it down to detail 100% right, am I right?...

JEDI POWERZZ.

Ron Paul is one of the smartest people in American politics.

He cares about the country and the people. Nearly all other politicians are bought and paid for.

I dont know how anyone can disagree with ideals of freedom and sound economics.

His public speaking is not what it once was, as he has aged and tries to get alot of info out at once!

It is great to see that he has a real chance at being a candidate this time. If only he could get voted in, it would solve alot of the worlds current problems. We shall see.

Ron paul is an isolationist but it's probably the best thing he has going for him. Non interventionism and isolationism and different labels for the same thing, look them up in the dictionary.

"Mainstream media" has nothing to do with my opinion. I dislike him as a candidate mostly based on his domestic policy. I disagree with the total free market concept and I think he goes too far with wanting to cut things like Medicare and other domestic programs. But I love his stance on civil rights. He has the right ideas there.

I do like most of his foreign policy, though. I just think he goes a little too far when talking about cutting all foreign aid. He seems to want to just let things happen as they will (sort of like the free market) which I don't agree with completely. I think the US should intervene sometimes. For instance, I agree with the air strikes in Libya this past spring. I think when it's done right like that, it is a very good thing. We probably made a new ally of that country. But I agree with him that war is nearly always the wrong idea.

Basically, I respect him like I respect very few elected officials these days, especially the Republican ones.

i'm likely not going to enter this thread again because your views and american politics in general hold not interest to me, but that doesn't sound particularly believable

I probably seem like the crazy one, but those of you who rabidly follow, argue, and show support for humans and their ideas just seem stupid to me. Has anyone ever even come close to doing it right?

Humanity is fucked, we are a terrible group of beings, period. Call me a pessimist, but I personally don't see the value in dissecting the minutiae of this economic collapse. There have been thousands before it in all different time periods and in all different types of markets and we still can't fix it. You know why? Because humans are inherently selfish, animalistic. Arguing politics and all its accomplices (such as economic policy) is for the most part, a crock of shit. There will always be problems, period.

YEA AMERICAA, lets BOMB IRAN, let's make

sure they can't get nukes so Israel can push them around if need be. It's our

responsibility to stop this crazy dictator running the country.

Lets place sanctions on them

regardless of if they are "acts of war" or not. Let's

send 200,000 solders to fight another pointless war!!!!! Lets watch thousands of inncoient people die. YEAHHH to WARS-its America's

way after all....isn' it?

you're completely right though, RP's plan on how to handle Iran is completely

off base.

Seemed pretty straightforward to me. He disagrees with RP on economic issues, agrees with him on civil rights issues, and sometimes agrees with him on foreign policy.

I just re read his first post and it seems to be perfectly in line with his second. In his first post he said that he thought RP was a little too isolationist and in his second post he went on to give the example of saying that he (the poster) thought the intervention in Libya was a good idea. I don't agree with that, but it seems pretty simple and clear.

BTW, one of these definitions is for non-interventionist and one is for isolationist. I dare you to guess which is which without looking it up.

"a policy of remaining apart from the affairs or interests of other groups, esp. the political affairs of other countries."

"the principle or practice of not becoming involved in the affairs of others."

God knows where? They're from a dictionary.

I haven't said a word about Iran, I think RP is right about Iran.

My earlier posts? Why should I say more, you didn't really say anything about them other than non specifically saying they're nonsense and claiming a movie I referenced was badly researched without citing anything.

Did you watch the movie? It correctly describes the GS act as preventing mergers between commercial and investment banks (it did other things too) and described how when Citi group and travelers merged it was in violation of this, so the fed granted them a waiver and then a year later the congress passed the gramm leach bliley act which repealed the glass stegal act. This allowed citigroup (and others) to start trading collateralized debt obligations and mortgage backed securities which were two driving forces in the economic collapse (especially when paired with the bogus ratings they were given by rating agencies).

Probably not, but seeing as so far in this thread you have said nothing of substance, I think it'll pass for the time being.

Oh look! You had posted a good reaction pic to your own already.

Quit spamming the forums with shit.

Ron Paul sounds like one of the last true intellectuals in American politics, at least of the highly visible ones. The only problem I'd have with him is that he is a conservative, but the whole two-party system itself is obsolete, so who knows what rises from each side.

Yep.

Ok so I honestly know very little about the economy and what policies improve the economy. The economy seems like the foremost debate in the upcoming elections. Because I don't have much specific knowledge about the economy and the issues in this election, I can view things a a neutral observer. I see things like this:

America is becoming too polarized. It's either this or this, one or the other. People associate themselves with groups (political parties) and become more concerned with winning than anything else. There's too much basing in campaigns, and not enough learning. Candidates are too afraid to change their views as their knowledge increases because they'll appear "weak" and "indecisive". They're too concerned with fitting an "image" to get votes instead of doing what is most productive. America can't get anything done now because we're too divided. The split between groups has intensified and it now seems to have much more of a detrimental effect on politics and the state of the country in terms of international affairs. If we can't get anything done in our own country, how can we expect to function in the world? Roads are falling apart, states pass laws that make bullying legal, and our education system is an absolute JOKE. The point of public education was originally to educate voters so they could make intelligent decisions, but now that's not happening. Schools want to move everybody through rapidly and don't really care about the end result. Manipulative students can glide through high school and make it to college without any change in their thinking. I see if from first hand experience. In college, I have no idea if that's possible, because I'm still in high school, but I have a feeling it is to a lesser degree.
There's a separation between education and real life. People don't apply what they learn in school with what they do in real life. Kids in high school take rhetoric classes, but they fail to see how manipulative political campaigns are. We're taught in history classes about the detrimental effects of resisting change, discriminating against groups of people, and splitting into 2 political parties, but as soon as school ends we hate on progressive views, view people as inferior based on their opinions, race, and religion, and identify as democrat or republican. Not everyone does all of these things to a high degree, but enough people do at least one to a small degree that it has a profound effect on our community.
The ultimate goal of humanity is to innovate, improve quality of life, and discover. We can see it by observing the course of history. We started in caves. We began writing, doing math. We built empires. Now, we have the computer, space exploration, and advanced medicine. When we start fighting within out own countries, continents, and world, we stop advancing. Really, the only way we're going to get out of the hole we've dig ourselves into is if we STOP FUCKING FIGHTING BASED ON OUR VIEWS AND LEARN FROM EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON WINNING. Democrats, republicans, you're both fucking wrong. Equally wrong, but wrong. By making it a competition, by us as citizens endorsing the competition, you're slowing progress. Don't get me wrong, I love competition, but PRODUCTIVE competition. Between sports teams, companies, and individuals. Productive, practical competition leads to innovation. Destructive competition that becomes about just winning undermines the point of competition and in basic terms, fucks everything up.

all the conservatives are a joke... I wish we had better democrats but id prefer Obama over most of the other candidates

I'm kinda over arguing about it so I'll just let Ron Paul explain why repealing glass stegall was a bad idea, why he voted against it, how it contributed to risk taking, and how it will contribute to a second collapse.

dude Pon Raul is gon fix my 'murica. he gon take awl da socialists out and let me smoke weed i luv Pon Raul.

This. And that's saying something, considering that Rick Santorum, the worst human being since Hitler, is running.

inthemiddleof shitstorm.

ron paul is the fucking man though. its amazing how ignorant america is though. they vote for the same shitty people every year regardlesss of what they done. People are so fucking stupid

i have a feeling ron paul is too honest and (also almost too liberal minded) to be elected by the republicans, he probably needs another party or something because people are probably too scared of change (after all of that obama stuff going on) most people realistically vote for someone who is sound and secure. there is no proof of someone like ron paul (or any different thinking president) being a sound and secure president. this, in my opinion, is very unfortunate because he probably wont become president. id still vote for him tho

(tear my paragraph up i dare you haha)

no but seriously calm down its like my opinion bro

RP is my fucking man this election. Although, I'm split. If anyone else wins, they'll work to preserve the status quo as best they can, like every other president. And because of the current state of things, if it's preserved any longer, shit's going to hit the fan, and we'll face a collapse.

Collapse would be good the same way a forest fire is good for a forest. We'll be able to sieve out the ruling elites of today and begin to work with solidarity with one another and develop autonomous communities based on mutual aid. It'll be a hell of a transition, namely because we're socially conditioned to be dog-eat-dog in our capitalist society, and crime will be rampant initially. But after so long, people tend to band together and form a powerful sense of community. Crime is a byproduct of a sick society, and the day would come where killers would be put in hospitals, not prisons. People will, for the first time in centuries, have to take it upon themselves to educate and think for themselves.

But, on the other hand, RP would manage to inject some life back into our decaying system, and might make it last a bit longer. If He actually won, it could be such an empowering victory for the American people that it'd spur something much bigger than him and his campaign. I'm generally a/political, but I do believe I'll vote for Ron Paul this election. Some say he's secretly an anarcho-primitivist, and his presidency would simply work to build a jumpoff platform for the neo-luddite world.

This is what's wrong with the American people right now. This statement effectively closes off any opportunity for challenge. Being challenged doesn't feel great, but it's something that has to happen in order for us to educate each other. Why guard your opinions so brutishly when there's a chance something or someone could open you up to new ideas and help spur growth within your person?

(tear my paragraph up i dare you haha)

I wasn't going to but since it's a dare I guess I have to.

Are you fucking stupid?, you closed minded bigot. meh i cant do this right now i guess i tried.

But he is doing really well. I voted for him in 08 and felt like the beginning of a change, not really him getting elected. Now hes doing pretty damn well and the people that support him aren't going anywhere so he'll keep growing.

We need change relatively soon or were fucked
