Who's got it? Who likes it? Favorite tracks?
My first thoughts after a few listens. This album kills "For Emma, Forever Ago" and "Blood Bank" by a long shot. Much more nuanced and multi-layered. The previous albums are just the high falsetto voice over a guitar or two. My favorite tracks at the moment are "Calgary" and "Perth." Any thoughts?

Ugh, Bon Iver. Personally I'm not a fan but I can see why people like them. I just hate that XM U plays their song calgary practically every five songs. Along with lorelai by fleet foxes although that song is semi enjoyable. But yeah Bon Iver, I can see the draw and they're talented maybe i should listen to this album and see If there is a track i come across that i enjoy.

You have to be kidding.

This is a fantastic album and I have been listening to it non stop for the last week but For Emma was far better in my opinion. For Emma had a great mix of different stuff and to me just felt more natural. They are extremely different albums but I just find that there is something missing from Bon Iver that For Emma had. Basically the vibe that I get is that he is not living deep in the woods of Wisconsin anymore and that it is a different stage in his life.

ehh, there are a few good tracks on For Emma, but I found several of them lacking. I have loved pretty much all of these songs. Don't get me wrong, For Emma was sick, for sure!

good lord I am with Link %100

For Emma is in my top 5 albums of all time, so i was not expecting the new album to top that. its really good and way more produced and layered than For Emma, but the whole lo-fi sketchiness of it totally hits home with me for some reason. pretty much every track on for emma is amazing

but the new album is still unreal. I agree with you about Perth and Calgary but I am also feeling Beth / Rest. it sounds kinda R&B for me, which is cool cuz it reminds me of Gayngs

all this arguing over the new album and emma... bon iver is just awesome. emma is absolutely stellar, almost flawless, but blood bank is potentially my favourite song, and this new album is amazing too. it's just bon iver, and i'm stoked they've (justin vernon) been able to keep putting out such good music. only band i know of that's as consistent is the national.

if you have any doubts about the new album, give "towers" a couple listens. that song is nigh flawless.

This is definitely top of my playlist right now. Such a solid album all the way through. Minnesota, WI and Holocene are definitely two of my favorite tracks. So good though.

The sax solo on Colbert two days ago was absolutely fucking hilarious. Although I now know that it was intentional, I didn't at the time. I had to watch it three times on TiVo and I almost shit myself laughing.

Not sure particularly why, but this song really stood out to me by Bon Iver. I find it pretty touching, and just gets to me. Plus its got a nice flow and a super good vibe.

My opinion. I like For Emma better, but I've been listening to it for a long time. I almost have a personal connection with every track on that album.
As far as the new album, it's PHENOMENAL. I love Calgary, and Hinnom, TX along with every other track on the album. I know it will grow on me just like For Emma has, it just hasn't had the time yet.
I'm always advertising my music blog, but ya'll should check it out. Link in my sig.

I love it. It got leaked a couple of months ago and have been listening to it non stop since. Sooo good although the majority of For Emma in my opinion is better.

lacking? Seriously I thought every track on that album was phenomenal (except maybe Wisconsin but that was abonus so it doesnt count)

As an aside, I also bought Beirut's "Gulag Orkestar," Wye Oak's "Civilian," and the new Explosions album. All 3 are sick, anyone else heard either of these?

Consequently, for anyone who has listened to the new album, does Beth/Rest strike you as a new-age Bruce Hornsby song? Sounds awfully familiar to me!

never heard of Wye Oak but Explosions in the Sky never fails to impress me and Beirut is just amazing all in all. my brother has seen explosions a few times and he says their shows are unreal. ive never seen beirut but no doubt they would be unreal live

all 3 of those are pretty dope. Beirut personally never gets old for me.. I've been on a Wu Lyf binge lately. they're kinda strange but if you can imagine the singer from wolf parade at his most intense mixing early modest mouse/ weird ass dance its music its like that

to the wye oak guy...civilian is the best yet for them.

and holocene and michicant are what you want. get at me after a few more listens.

i got it

i hated it

and dont like any of the tracks

honestly, the vocals sound like a whirring washing machine. i cant stand it.

take out the vocals, and i'd listen to the musicianship of it. or just sing normally.
