So, I know this happens frequently in this day an age, but it seems that more frequently things are actually happening, so you would think that they would be very cautious and thorough with determining if the school was safe or not. Clearly, Georgetown failed.

We were in class for about 10 minutes when the fire alarm was pulled, and anyone who lives in the entire northern section of America knows how fucking shitty the weather was. Obviously no time to grab jackets, cell phones, keys, etc. we all run out into the pouring, freezing rain.

Then they escort us all to the nearby elementary school, which is usually a short walk. I swear it was the Trail of Tears v. 2. Well that was a bit of an exaggeration, but it was fucking terrible. Thunder, freezing rain, and 800 kids just somberly walking to the other school, not knowing what was going on.

We get to the school and they put us in the gym. Then they go around and hand out paper towels! Aw thanks guys! Word gets around that someone killed themselves in the bathroom, which wouldn't have been a surprise, but definitely scary none the less.

Find out, that rumor was started by the middle school. So finally, they separate the middle schoolers (we share the same school) by putting them into the cafeteria while we stay in the gym.

Since my photo teacher isn't one to exactly follow the rules, she discloses there was a bomb threat. We also are informed that all of the students that are capable/want to do something like this were absent today, sweet!

First off, our school is pretty shitty. We don't have anymore money to put in the school system and we are about to lose our accreditation. Ironically enough, the middle school decided to put on a presentation this morning for all the 8th grade parents. The presentation was supposed to show them how great and safe our school was, and the great statistics we had with standardized tests. Since all those parents were coming in, 80% of the seniors were NOT allowed to bring their car to school today so that the 8th grade parents had a place to park.

Now, this happened at our school before about 8 or 9 years ago, and of course all the students were dismissed for the rest of the day. Strongly thinking we were going to have the same fate, and without having a car to drive ourselves home, we all get on each-others cell phones to call our parents to come pick us up at the elementary school.

Oh well I guess we were wrong. The vice principal (whom of which was a middle school guidance counselor last year) gets on the microphone and tells us there is no use in calling our parents because we were going back to school to "continue with the educational process".

Then most of the staff was told to patrol and tell every student on a cell phone to "get off and shut off their phone" because we were "still in school". First off, thats a load of fucking bullshit. Why aren't we allowed to call our parents when our school has a chance of blowing the fuck up.

Soon enough, one of the spanish teachers gets on the microphone and starts announcing names about every 5 or so minutes. We were thinking they were just wondering where these students were.

WRONG AGAIN! These students had their parents come to the school we were evacuated to so that they could be dismissed. Once everyone else heard about this, they all got on their cell phones again to tell their parents to come back to the school and get us.

Finally, a line forms out the door and down the street of angry parents coming to get their child. Never-mind a bomb, we were all drenched and freezing. It was miserable.

Once again, the vice principal gets on the microphone and tells us that we cannot leave unless our parent physically comes to the school to sign us out. So basically, all the parents working (mostly) in Boston cannot come get their children, so they are stuck at school.

After I left (my mom came to get me) my friend who is still at school calls me..

They told all of them the building was clear and that they were heading on back. Since the other path we took originally was full of huge puddles, they take another route.

They get half way to the school and the fire chief comes running down the street yelling it's not safe yet, get back to the other school. Half the kids stay in the road saying "fuck that, we made it this far, even if we walk back we're not going to get any drier" (It was still pouring), and the other half was "fuck this, Im going back to the school"

Some kids decide to just walk away and go home, whilst the majority walks back to the other school. WHILE they are walking back, parents are still arriving at the other school, trying to dismiss their child. The administration there tells them that we were "safely brought back to the high school and they can no longer dismiss their child"

What a load of shit. They get back, parents leave wicked pissed, and the students are even angrier.

After about 3-4 hours of bullshit, all the students get back to the school. Supposedly it's safe. But we find out some chilling detail!!

THEY DIDNT CHECK THE THIRD FLOOR, WHERE THE ENTIRE FUCKING THING STARTED!

My photo teacher said she "couldn't say anything" which is really surprising to hear from her. She never keeps that kind of information from her students.

Other students who are friends with the suspected bombers say it's "not found" and that the school isn't safe. They even look scared themselves. It could just be going for shock factor (wouldn't be a surprise) but still even scary.

So school was back in session for the rest of the day with a total of about 100 students still left (the rest of us went home), and obviously classes were not able to be conducted.

Conclusion? Georgetown School system failed.

Cliff Notes: My town sucks, and my school sucks even more. My vice principal should go back to where she belongs, in the middle school guidance office. Clearly, not one thing went right today and people are absolutely ripshit.

you need the cliff notes at the top, i read that whole thing and then saw the cliff notes and was like fuck! anyways that sucks but alot of schools are that way.

Wow, that had me on the edge of my seat, hanging on to very last word. Seriously write a book! but was there really a bomb cause they said its "not found" i didnt really get that... coool ur safe tho.

wow theyre just trying far too hard to conduct their classes. jeopardizing the safety of their students just to teach them to make them smarter so they can cover up they suck.

thats kind of rediculous that they made you stay there so long. i mean obviously it was a pretty serious threat if they evacuated everyone for 4 hours to a different school.

did you just leave? i probably would have since it would be mass chaos when kids are walking back an forth from the schools not like they would really know who was there or left with a parent.

that sucks though i feel bad for you. the weather sucked ass around here too

My mom came and got me because otherwise I would get suspended if I just left.. even though I'm 18..

That's horrible.. I got pissed off just from reading that. Are you going to go to school tomorrow? Seems super sketch.

good read, but pretty shitty situation. haha looks like your school if gonna be getting some criticism in the papers for the next week. id be fucking annoyed if i was a parent and the admin was telling me that i couldn't take my child

that would have sucked staying their all day dealing with all of that. sounds kind of like something that my school would do. so happy im out of here next year

although about a very sad topic that was hilarious to read. hahaha,

yeah your school needs a better emergency system. Parents should be allowed to pull their kids out of school if theres a bomb or other kinda threat.

and they didnt even check the third floor.

Oh my God! That's the coolest fucking story I've ever heard in my life! Can you tell it again, do you have time?

They can't do that, legally when you are 18 you are able to check yourself out of school no exceptions. That whole story makes me so happy that I'm not entangled in the system of bullshit that is America's public schools and their administration.

Same thing happend to my school. Some seniors ordered a bunch of pizza's since we had been sitting there since 2nd period and the principal confiscated them and gave them to the teachers. Everyone had called their parents and they told our parents we couldn't be dismissed.

We're not allowed in my school. Even if say you have a doctors appointment, and your parent calls into the school to dismiss you so that you can drive yourself to the doctors since most parents are at work, we are not allowed to get dismissed unless our parent physically comes to the school and picks us up. Even if we are 18.

holy crop bombs aren't anything to joke about but still keeping you inside a gym for hours and then putting you back inside a school that wasnt safe that is gay you could have died you should shoot the vice principal

after graduating high school and realizing how stupid we all acted during those 4 years, i've come to realize, do you fucking realize how hard it is to handle 800 kids who think they are bigger and badder then security. kids who think everything the school does is retarded. what if they would of let you stay in that school and a bomb went off? then what? parents would complain that the school didn't do anything. either way, everyone just complains and think the school is retartded and they could run it better. the administration is alwyas wrongs arent they? i went to school full of blacks and bad kids, everyone complains all the fucking time. even though 90 percent of the time, there is a method to the administrations madness. when there is a possible emergency, you need to get out of the building. no matter what. even if some loser thought it would be funny to pull the alarm when it was cold and raining. better safe than sorry. but nooooooooo kids argue and parents argue. no one is ever fucking satisfied. what if there was a bomb? THEN WHAT? believe me, THE RAIN WOULDN"T HAVE BOTHERED YOU. they do the best they can to make you safe. be fucking thankful for goodness sake. you know how many times in 4 year my school stood out in the rain like dumbasses because kids thought they were funny? and kids complained but you know what, thanks monticello high administration. you kept us safe. i can remember an instance when they took off all the hinges on stall doors in the bathrooms because kids were smoking and fighting in the bathroom. instead of parents and students thanking security for keeping kids safe, everyone complains. so i say props to them for closing every bathroom but one and only two kids were allowed in at once. thanks for shutting everyone up. it wasn't only bad kids who would complain 24/7. it was even the smart kids who thought everything was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo retarted. and thier parents too. so fucking annoying. i know this is a stupid rant and people will tell me to calm down. but what did that school do wrong besides get you a little wet to keep you safe? not keep you satisfied. maybe next time, they'll serve tea and crumpets

Authorities did not find a bomb. “The school was checked by local and state police for safety, and obviously you take those things seriously,” said Superintendent Carol Jacobs.

you should be thanking them!

Um..I'm pretty sure people at her school are pissed about the disorganization of the school..they didn't even check the floor at which the problem occured. Calm the fuck down. Obviously she would rather be wet than dead. The threat seems legit and the school administration could have been much more coordinated.

Our school locked all the bathrooms and you can only go certain times when a teacher is there to let you in, because of smoking. No one complains.

We've stood in the rain and snow and sleet when people think it's funny to pull the fire alarms, yah it's inconvenient, and it sucks, but obviously we all know better safe than sorry.

We have another rule, no baggy sweatshirts because people could carry stuff in them.

Then another rule after that, no more winter style jackets in class, because you could hold stuff in them.

And another rule, we could only walk ONE WAY in the hallway because some girl fell down and broke her wrist. It was this way for almost 4 years. People adjusted, and followed the rules.

Every school has shitty fucking rules, it happens. People complain, that will always happen. But the way this was conducted was madness, and there's really no getting around that.

A while ago my had two bomb threats in one day. The second one was better because it was less specific so they had to search the whole school and we got to play around in the sun on the soccer field for an hour.

fuck you man, i hope your house catches on fire and the firemen come to laugh at you.

have you not heard of 9/11? those fire departmants and police departments were hero's

i understand that some of those men have a lot of guts, but in this story it points out to me that her fire depatment didnt even think to look on the third floor. and of course i have heard of 9/11, do u think i live under a rock and all i have is a computer that goes on ns???

i bet the whole third floor thing was a rumor. how stupid could they be? it starts with one kid saying YO JOHN DOE I BET THOSE DUMBASSES DIDN"T EVEN CHECK THE THIRD FLOOR hehe. john tells tom, tom tell two people who tell two people who tell 6 people who tells 3 people etc etc RUMOR. however i wasnt there and could care less

shit thats really harsh...

well at our school if sophmores go out for lunch you get saturday school which i think a bad rule

because the juniors and seniors get to. Teachers said liability and i dont get how it makes a difference? and other schoolers near us lets sophs and freshmans to go out.

and the punishment for just going out to luch in 4 hour sat school.

pretty damn lame, because kids who bring drugs and like alchy and tobacco get the same punishment.

i think actual illegal activities is > then just grabbing some food besides the crappy school food is better

comments appreciated, this is the second time i have been caugght for going out, therre wont be a 3rd time. i just think its a stupid rule

NOBODY cool story hansel her. This took her a long time to write and it sucks for what happened to her.

I'm glad you were all safe in the end.

To me that sounds like an example of a well-meaning administration fucking up. Yes, the priority was to keep everyone safe, but they didn't need to be so irrational about it.
