Bolton Valley for sale

Hahahah...... yes, the resort is for sale. The current owners are more interested in investors and trying to continue with Bolton in its current direction. The president of the resort spoke to most employees yesterday before the press release, and he made it sound like this is a good thing for Bolton. Also, places like Waterville and I believe Cannon have recently sold....and in my experience at Sunapee, new ownership can do a lot of good. But if you guys have any real pressing questions or concerns I encourage you to call the resort or seek out any of the marketing people when you guys are around.

i remember when i first started going to bolton when i was little, it had just gotten sold but for some reason the lodge didn't get sold i think, so there was no lodge. that was back when my dad took me there cuz of the free rope tow when i was learning

I don't understand what their problem is... Bolton is a sick spot and super unique, but the only people who give it any time are locals, which is fine... What I can't understand is if they're trying to get kids to go there, why not pour all their money that would go to turbines and other useless bullshit and expand their park. If they had an all park section, or made some of their super flat cruisers into rail gardens, and made their lodge a little cooler they could capitalize on the ever growing freestyle market and become a cool "destination" that people outside Burlington would actually know about... the future isn't about mountain casters it's about getting the new gapers... people who watch the x-games, and soon olympic pipe and slope? and want to ride somewhere with a nice park... look at how huge mt. snow is now...So my suggestions to them:1.Build a good park this year2.Expand the park to larger areas of the mountain.3.promote it as a place that is park friendly, so that kids won't leave to go to stowe (which is overpriced and out of the way) as soon as they're old enough to drive.4. Get a high speed quad... if people can lap the mountain in 2 mins. it'll be a huge draw... don't believe me look at Jiminy peak (which I don't think is a good model to follow, but their lifts made a huge difference for them.)5. Get a cool shop and a lodge that doesn't feel so shitty. this isn't the 70's anymore T.V's in the lodge and xbox are a cheap way to make a place more friendly.

This is probably the opposite direction it is going. Nobody travels to Bolton. You would pass up Stowe, Sugarbush, Killington, Mt Snow, Okemo, and Mad River on your way to bolton with its like 1500 ft of vertical.

Bolton has a locals crowd that is geared towards families and beginners. If you start bringing in all these park features and UNSUPERVISED 14-22 yr old males you loose that family vibe. Think of how much theft and general assholeness goes on at places like mt snow, sunday river, wachusette. That is not the bolton vibe.

I think they should be a co-op like mad river. Let the people buy them and vote on mtn operations and make it a locals playground. If its parks people vote for then so be it, but if its a co-op you wont have theives and duechebags hanging in the lodge.
