Went ahead and ordered the free parts kit for the boa boots to have on hand. Was super easy. Just had to answer a couple questions, add a picture of the boot and done. Free kit otw.

Why would you need replacement parts for the extra stout completely redesigned future of all ski boots BOA mechanism? It's sort of like K2 is not fully confident in the product they're trying to sell everyone on as the be all end all of ski boot closure devices???

Would you rather they charge for replacement parts like people do for buckles

Every company with a warranty department must not trust their product I guess. I get that hating is a full time pastime for ns posters these days, but a company doing something consumer-friendly is not a bad thing lol

A warranty is for failure after the fact. Ford doesn't give you a transmission ahead of time to store in your garage for when your transmission inevitably fails do they?

Buckles have never broke? What about FT cables?

Don’t remember anyone claiming it’s completely impossible to break. Is it very stout? Absolutely. Better to have and not need.

My last shirt I bought came with a spare button....does that mean it the buttons shouldn't be trusted?

Idk why Boa's made the haters come out of the woodwork. Its such a weird thing to get worked up by.....and its always the people that haven't used them that are hating...... literally everyone who has used them is giving glowing reviews.

Also the only complaint is they're gunna break....like I don't have a bucket of broken buckles and ft cables in my garage rn.

I've actually never broken a buckle or worn FT but I have blown up BOAs.

The companies that make shirts don't sweat up and down that buttons don't come off and how they are the solution for every problem. Do you have jackets with zippers or all buttons?

Some of us just aren't early adopters and like to let others act as guinea pigs and do unpaid market research for companies.

I also love how polarizing the boa on boots has become, it's great entertainment.

Thats actually pretty impressive to not ever break a buckle. I seem to go through at least 1 a season.

What boas have you used. Snowboard? or touring boots?

Snowboard boot and Salomon trail running shoes

Comparing the BOA that comes on a trail running shoe to the BOA that comes on an alpine boot is like comparing the durability of a plastic fork to a metal one. No one refuses to use forks ever again after the plastic one breaks. Plus, no one has ever made the claim that the new H+i1 system is indestructible. Having a back-up part ready to go is something called preparedness, which is a pretty smart thing if you want to keep your gear running and not have to waste time running to a shop.

Boa has always provided free replacement kits, even for rental equipment. My guess is that K2 provides customers with the spare parts on Boa’s behalf.

actually fixing them however can be arduous.

I’m not sold on the ski boot boa for this reason, I don’t even like it much on snowboard boots. I do think the even pressure distribution Boa offers would give better performance than the two lower buckles and also reduce stress on the boot shell since there aren’t just two pressure points.

Changing a BOA cable on an alpine boot is easier than changing a derailleur cable on a bike. Waaay easier than snowboard BOAs or other systems that run the cable through/under fabric elements or internal frames. It's all external and will take less than 10 minutes.

K2 does not provide the parts. The parts are ordered and come directly from boa.

That's good to know, I mean it's not really that hard even with snowboard boas, just takes time and patience.

Apples to Oranges here with the Alpine version and the snowboard version. I've only seen one K2 boa break in person and it was fixable on hill, didn't even need to take the boots off.

What Salomon shoe has a BOA? I've never seen it.

Good catch it wasn't Salomon, they had a speed lace system but not boa, the shoe was a New Balance.
