ok I dont know you, no shit its the internet. It's similar how you think I don't value life experiences..haha.

your second argument is weak also. The OP's car (like said throughout the thread) is not such a big deal. E46's go cheap and you can buy them with 100K and they will run fine for another 100k.

You can keep your 5 year old skis they will get the job done thats cool, but those top of he line skis will be quite a bite funner to ride. Similar how the BMW is more fun to drive.

So please, just stop, some people just like performance cars, to each their own.

I own a 21 year old BMW. Most people think its stupid, but guess what, it is the funnest car a person could buy for $2,000. When I land a job I will be buying an E46 M3, and no, I dont care if people think im a dbag or whatever because there will be a smile on my face when ever I set foot in that car.

yes cheap, but he could have bought a newer car with less mileage for the price that he paid for a bmw which means, an older and high mileage due to the brand. i don't see the practicality of the trade off.

and because they are 'funner' isn't an adequate reason to buy new stuff every couple of years.

and also, you just stop, some people don't see the practicality of driving expensive cars. to each their own. so stop trying to persuade my opinion and then say 'to each their own' when you can't respect mine.

also, buy a dictionary and try to find the word funnest.

that bwm body style is my favorite first off, still cant justify buying a 10 year old bmw just to say you have a bimmer.

I know people hate on WRX's but...TESTAMONIAL

I bought my 03 wrx at the end of last summer and i couldnt be happier, got it for a little over 9 after taxes, and had just under 70k on it, I cant think of many/any other AWD cars, with the space it does, ( i got the wagon for practical reasons) and i can fit a good amount of stuff back there, the power it has, (227 not bad but not a lot but by all means... right now if more than enough for me), with the safty features..side airbags... for the price I payed.

The AWD is awesome, havent had anyproblems yet, put about 20k on it in about 10.5 months, so people will hate but It was one of the better purchases Ive made to date. ONly downside is the 22-23 mpg highway i get, coming from my saab that got around 32 on if i babyid it.

Dont even think they have gone into production yet.... Not saying you dont have one, because you could have ordered it, but yeahh I dont think they have started making them just yet.

Sorry for the dub post, this just was too stupid not to pass up.. No one cares your mom is related to Hitler, if you both hit trees at the end of the road 1) your saying BMW's have shit handling/breaking if it cant stop/turn to avoid said tree, and 2) You will both die. Your gonna be racing down a road, no matter who is first or second your going to be traveling pretty darn quick and if you hit a tree at the end of the road? Thats a battle you will loose 9 times out of ten my friend.

you started that sentence with at least, meaning that you concede that japanese cars are better. Also lolwhat? all leather interior with a computer built into the dash and front wheel drive isn't a nice interior or driving in the snow? owait it does both, you just have to buy winter tires for whatever you're driving. Also accord coupes look sleek without posting douche on your forehead. GGlol U lose on all fronts in the NAZI mobile

fyi I don't drive a beamer. and I'm not conceding that japanese cars are better, I'm conceding that your fwd 3000lb 2 door beats my 4 door 3700lb awd car off the line. I've driven plenty of fwd, toyotas, hondas, and lexus' in the snow before with snow tires, studded and studless. sure they can get around ok, but they don't even compare to how good mine handles. and arguing about an opinion on how it looks is dumb.

lololol... best platform? 944's are the poorman porsche, dont kid yourself. At work everyone despises 944's and the running gag is " midas couldnt fix it?". To add to the "lulz" some of the guys at work take pictures of themselves working on 944's to change to their desktop backgrounds on the work computers. Most people would rather sit and do nothing whist not getting paid at work than work on a 944. There is sweet fuckall for aftermarket on 944's, how could they be the "best platform"? Off the top of my head I could list 10 cheaper cars that would slaughter a 944 around a track (circuit/ drag). I find it funny that since you have a fancy badge on your car you seem to fancy yourself a car guru. 968 are the best 4 cylinder porsche.

$5k for a getrag 260? in your fucking dreams dude, i would go pull one from the same parts car i got all the other parts for my e30 foe\r for 125 bucks.

i own a bmw, i havent read this thread but already know its fucking gay. ill post pics later.

hey tronned! I was waiting for you to show up and pms all over this thread. Thanks for taking the opportunity to single me out again as well! Really.
Of course I don't fancy myself a car guru, nor to I particularly care about the fact that my car is perceived as 'fancy' (thanks for the compliment though!) I just know that I got myself into a very fun/poised sub-3000lb, 300+hp/tq car. Isn't that what it's about? Having fun with your car?Your perceived complexity of these cars is way off as well. And when things get too complex for simple DIY, there are competent mechanics/garages around who will work on them.
You, on the other hand, feel as though because you turn wrenches for a living, are some ultimate authority. Are you this uptight in real life as well?
Anyway, I'm not going to sit here and argue about the adeptness of the 944. Reputation, history, and enthusiast groups counter your point as well. Do you track/auto-x your car? Don't be so ignorant. If you really are that clued out, there are some great forums and very knowledgeable/passionate owners over at rennlist, pelican forums. etc. (including a sweet fuckton of aftermarket!) You can come talk if you want.(i'm sorry if this doesn't compare to the honda/acura community. my bad)
I know I'm not going to change your opinion (or you won't express that on here), so I really don't have much more to say to you regarding this.
The last time I checked, a little more thought/engineering went into these cars than for them to be considered 'tractors'.Maybe you should go out and spend some time in a 944/51?
Ps. I would love to hear your 10 best stock 951 killers to buy for under 10k$!
(zing away bro!)

The reason i called you out if because youre trolling a bmw thread with your personal 944 so gladly i felt the need to pipe up because that was a dink move on your part. Your car isnt "300+" hp, not a chance contrary to popular believe an ecm, exhaust and intake is not 50hp. If you enjoy your car that is all that counts. Dont get me wrong, a 944 is a decent car to putz around in and such but its very far from a ground breaking sports car as you suggest.

I do autocross cars, my dealership sponsors auto x events and track dates, the last couple years they bring out 997 chasis demos for people to rip around in with R compound tires on them.

I didnt say they were tractors, that was someone else.

I do turn wrenches for a living, making me a professional by definition, im not saying I know everything about a car but i have a fairly large amount of experience, training, and knowledge of cars. Do you question other professionals? If a electrician came to your house to wire your panel, would you question his judgement?

Every car make and model have passionate owners of that car, this is not new and only for 944's. There is forums and message boards for literally almost every chasis out there.

Ive driven over a dozen 944's along with almost every other somewhat current porsche chasis, I think I have a right to form an opinion on the matter.

Im not an uptight guy at all, I just dont like how sometimes you come across as bias'ed in car threads. Im sure youre a good dude just dont think we really mesh talking about cars which is funny because I work for porsche and you love your 944.

And I respect your opinion as well, even if you come off the way you do sometimes.Your bias against 944 clashes with my affinity for them. it's as simple as that.Subjectivity/personal preference make things interesting, but that's cool.We can agree to disagree.
I troll ns car threads because they are almost all inherently troll threads themselves. There is not much else to say on the matter. I keep seriousness/respect generally for actual car forums.
It is also pretty average for a k26-8 running 15psi to be making over 300whp. I'll disagree with you on that one.
You're in calgary hey? Do you run mainly at race city?

edmonton actually. I know porsche club makes trips out to race city once in a while but locally we have a bike track called stratotech (small tight circuit that they use for time trials) and castrol raceway is in process of building a ALMS quality track, supposed to be ready for next summer from what I hear. One goal of the new track is to bring ALMS to edmonton I guess as ALMS wants to expand.

im gonna have to disagree, 944's are very good cars for the money. ive driven a 951 and a 944s, and ill admit that the 951 did feel a little heavy and a tad bit numb, but once you started pushing it, its characteristics changed for the better and it felt awesome. but i think the 944s is the better car, a little less power but its noticeably lighter and more nimble feeling, and its amazingly well balanced, weather the front or rear breaks loose is up to how you drive it. you can get the tail out on entry, and pick up a push on exit without hardly trying. it really is an awesome car to drive. and yes its a poor mans porsche, but thats according to people who care about their status that comes with their car rather than how it drives. the boxter is a "poor mans porsche" also, yet they drive insanely well, better than a lower end 911 IMO. miatas are chick cars, yet they could destroy most sports cars costing 3 times as much around a track.
ill agree that there are better cars for the money, but not many, especially when your talking about the 944s

Fuck asian minivan drivers who stop suddenly on ice covered roads, causing me to slide into lightpoles. (ugh)

Chassis was completely fucked, suspension was ultra fucked (because I went over a goddamn median after smashing into the lightpole) and the median also cracked one of the manifolds, and busted out the bottom end of the engine. through the oil pan...

It was a lost cause, so I just chucked it.

I had a chance to buy a 1991 ix a few years later but went with a Subaru because it's just more practical for me... My dad still has his 540i if I ever want to roll out a BMW.

Porsche 911>porsche 994

haha, your car is shit, most of these kids BMWs could beat your 994, 994 are the shiter of porsches cars. My dad has a 911 Carrera 4s, and he even thinks the 994s are SHIT. and porsches are his love and passion, he laughs at me because i love BMWs more then Porsches.

my dad has a gay ass sports wagon /claimits a 50,000 dollar station wagon. Its a 50,000 dollar station wagon. Seriously, thats so stupid you can't make it up

your lack of knowledge and grammar is pathetic

4s- that's the 911 for the porsche owner who can't actually drive- only 911 that needs awd is a turbo

are you even old enough to drive? you really have no idea.
firstly, it is not the 994. the model is 944. get that right. chassis # for the turbo is 951. now you know.
in the context of my discussion, I am mainly referring to late model 944 cars (turbo s, S2).
In 1988, when the turbo s was released, it was faster, handled better, and consequently faster around tracks consistently than the 4 speed 930 of the time.
Slightly tuned, an M030 equipped turbo s or 1989 turbo is still competitive even with current models.Go to any track or competitive venue if you don't believe me.
In your designation of 'shittier', do you mean cheaper?Lots of the 911 fanboys were pretty butthurt when a 'cayman-level' top mid-range 951 was faster/handled better than their then-antiquated 930's. (when the G50 was fitted into the 930 the adverse handling characteristics made it much more difficult to drive quickly than a 944).
I am assuming that you have never driven a 951 (or have even driven), and the extent of your porsche knowledge comes from your father (who drives an awd carrera..).

dont hate, he balls a little obviously if he can drop 50g on a car first off, secondly he likes a car with some performance/style and functionality, i dig wagons, just might be a personal thing

IM pretty sure that "745" is just an accord with a bwm badge thrown on it too

dude we get it all, all you care about is speed, in every god damn thread. its not cool and most people don't really give a shit if some old ugly ass car can go around a track really fast bc you poured money and hours into it. people, especially girls care if you have a nice looking newer car with a good interior and thats about it
