Bmw 3series

you're right. that's what i'm saying. pullout a consumer report. they're a non profit and their data is based off of consumers so they're unbiased. top five makes for reliablity are those five i listed. top models consist mainly of those i mention. sure individuals can have good luck with any make but i would say that relying on data gathered from thousands of people would be more substantial. german cars = especially reliable? one word. mercedes.

Dude, but for what years? what models?

Just because Toyota or Honda or This company or That has a reputation to be reliable doesnt mean all makes and models are reliable...

For example... My friend has a Toyota Corrolla from 1992.. that thing is the worst piece of shit on the face of the earth... gets great gas mileage... but then it breaks down every fucking day because the components were made CHEAP.. and there arent really any aftermarket parts for it that are affordable...

Meanwhile... my cousin has been driving an Astro Minivan with AWD for the last 6 or 7 years.. and I dont recall him ever having a problem with it.. and those things are known to have problem after problem after problem.. he just takes care of his van, whereas my buddy with the corrolla trashes his car...

This is why I said volvos are fuckin reliable as hell.. because I take my car over shit it should never see... and I take it around corners faster than it should ever go.. and I do burnouts and donuts in a 20 year old car with insane mileage... Then get in a crash where the front end gets bashed through the engine... Hell, the suspension doesnt even sag, and the bushings look like they are about to EXPLODE... Truely amazing and simple engineering.

So, basically, I've come to the conclusion, that that car will never die...

With that said, someone with a similar make of the same volvo, might say otherwise... in that they have had problems for years with the same old thing.. Ex: The starter wears fast, or the injection fails, or the distributor runs too hot etc..

Consumer reports mean nothing... if you take care of your car, or are just plain lucky like I am, you're going to be happy with what you have from a reliabllity standpoint...

you're probably right...thousands and thousands of people like you or me reporting on their experience with their cars is much more reliable information than your experience with a friend with a toyota and with a minivan. take care of your car and it will last longer...a novel idea. it works even better when you get a reliable car.

never heard anything good about a bmw?

thats quite ridiculous. you must only talk about cars with your girlfriends

i had a 91 325i and it was such a pleasure to own. super easy to work on. never had any major problems and it was amazing to drive

not to fire this up again, but just to clarify, i don't talk about cars "with my girlfriends". the only person i ever really talk to cars about is my friend who rallies, sooo yeah. and when i was looking for cars, consumer reports didn't give the BMWs i was looking at very good ratings. ze end.

uhhh no, a car is only as good as the driver.

just because your car is rwd it will not perform like that unless you know how to DRIVE.

FOR THE RECORD, a blow off valve is not needed, but is stronly recomended. its job is to release pressure into the atmosphere. This is important because when you release the gas, or shift, and your engine does not want the boost anymore, it has nowhere to go and backs up in the system. This is called compressor surge. It can severely damage your turbo (normally bearings go first). When a turbo car spools and you dont make enough PSI to blow off (normally determined by the spring in the BOV), you can hear this compressor surge, it kindof sounds like a whoosh, but it is as if its going through the blades of a fan; it cuts out and whooshes again. personally i think it sounds awesome, but it is a form of compressor surge and what you are hearing is your turbine inlet wheel being spun backwards by the pressure because it was not released into the atmosphere. thats all i'm really going to say on that topic because i want to go to bed lol.

as for a blow of valve hurting preformance, the only thing i've heard about that is what i stated above, or a boost leak at the blow off valve if not installed correctly. Also on 1.8T's i believe they use a recirculating system, which i personally dont know too much about, but i heard getting just a normal BOV will cause the car to run very rich which will hurt preformance.

yee diggg!!
