100% Black and blue. everyone that says otherwise is colorblind. If you don't agree, throw this in a program with a color matching tool

I'm colorblind and I see black and blue. Half of the people im with right now are saying white and brown/gold

when the picture of the dress is shopped to be blue and black its going to fucking be blue/black.

when it's the legit picture from twitter it's fucking white and gold.

simple as, the dude who tweeted it originally said it was white and gold

It's weird cuz I saw it earlier as white and gold one time, but every time since that I've seen black and blue. SOMEONE SOLVE THIS

I've passed the fact that people see it differently. Now, I'm curious why. Are there two ways that the cones and rods affect peoples eyes?

I know!! haha this is creeping me out, first i see black and blue and now i see white and gold

Researched this shit and used my medical school knowledge:

Black and Blue- retina's cones are more high functioning; this results in subtractive mixing by the eye

White and Gold- if you see it this way your eyes don't work well in dim light; so retinas and rods see white. This makes them less light sensitive, causing additive mixing to make the goldish color

So... Since I see blue and gold I'm somewhere in the middle of awesome and shity at the same time?

saw this on twitter, thought it was white and gold. got back on twitter 5 minutes later, looked at the same exact picture, and it was blue and black. shits weird

I feel like this is some joke I'm not in on. It's black and blue.

Fuck you! I'm over here thinking it's blue and gold while it's supposed to be black/blue or white/gold.

there is a screenshot of me using the colour picker on photoshop, here is the hex code for the colour: 5d4e2d

literally paste that into google and look at the colour that comes up, it's gold as fuck

one time when I glanced at it quickly I did see black and blue though. black and blue are the complimentary colours to these particular shades of white and gold, obviously

for the sake of everyone's sanity, THE ORIGINAL PICTURE IS IN FACT WHITE AND GOLD

stare at the bottom left corner of the dress and kinda just loose focus, itll be blue and black. Everywhere else for me is white and gold

]I'm glad I only see it as white and gold. What part is supposed to blue?

The white part is supposed to be blue, the gold is black. If I look at it straight on I see white and gold, and if I look at super tiny versions of it or from an angle I can see black and blue.

I've seen white and gold the whole time. I scrolled down twitter and saw black and blue for a second and then saw white and gold again. This shit is too mind fucky for me.

If you color pick that top part it's gonna come up gold or brown. It looks like mixed light sources with bad white balance so the shadows picked up a lot of orange and yellow. I don't see how it's white. It's blue and black, just with terrible colors so the black looks funny.

"Your eyes have retinas, the things that let you interpret color. There's rods, round things, and cones that stick out, which is what gives your eye a textured appearance in the colored part. The "cones" see color. The "rods" see shade, like black, white and grey. Cones only work when enough light passes through. So while I see the fabric as white, someone else may see it as blue because my cones aren't responding to the dim lighting. My rods see it as a shade (white).

There's three cones: small, medium and large. They are blue sensitive, green sensitive, and red sensitive.

As for the black bit (which I see as gold), it's called additive mixing. Blue, green and red are the main colors for additive mixing. This is where it gets really tricky. Subtractive mixing, such as with paint, means the more colors you add the murkier it gets until its black. ADDITIVE mixing, when you add the three colors the eyes see best, red, green and blue, (not to be confused with primary colors red, blue and yellow) it makes pure white.

—Blue and Black: In conclusion, your retina's cones are more high functioning, and this results in your eyes doing subtractive mixing.

—White and Gold: our eyes don't work well in dim light so our retinas rods see white, and this makes them less light sensitive, causing additive mixing, (that of green and red), to make gold."

Here is the actual dress, lol

Black and Blue. Earlier I saw it as white and gold for like 2 seconds though. So weird how that works

wtf? It';s weird how a thread on NS and lots of vodka can question my sanity. The dress is fucking black and blue. No comprende this shit, even after reading all the posts in this thread.

I have left the same page loaded in my browser for like an hour and seen both, it's screwing with me, and my roommates have seen the opposite, I have definitely seen both though, it's nuts!

If you throw it in a color matching tool its brown and blue

When I first opened the thread I saw white and gold, I read through some of the posts and now the dress is blue and black/gold, I don't know what the fuck is going on to cause a color change that significant.

so people were talking about it being because of cones and rods, but that wouldn't account for such a drastic change. So I saw people trying to color match it to see what the actual colors were. So i decided to try it. The top of the dress is gold and grey, the bottom is brownish/black and light blue. So if you look at the bottom of the dress, your brain will fill in the rest as such, and opposite for gold and white. And that also accounts for why some people see one colorway and then their brain switches to the other

I don't get it. The first time I saw it, it was white and gold. Then I came in here and it was blue and black. Then I went and did some other stuff and just came back and it's white and gold again...

the PICTURE of the dress very light blue and orange...

All the people who are saying it keeps switching back from one to the other are full of shit and I hate you all
