Bloom, North Face or Saga.. HALP!

With this 2012-13 ski season upon us, I ask you, gentlemen, if it would be worth the investment to purchase outerwear from the companies listed above. I love the way bloom's stuff looks and the tech specs on it look pretty good and North Face is always a trusty source. Saga is always pretty solid, but expensive.

The problem is, I am unsure about Blooms quality and durability because of their newness to the ski industry. I am worried that saga will just spend too much of my money and the same with North Face.

I would be looking to buy something from the anomie line from saga and the North Face Gonzo (long fit) jacket from North Face. I would buy blooms newest jacket and pants.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a full Anomie saga suit from last season and love it. The waterproofing is crazy, you can literally run water on the jacket and pants and it runs straight off of it. The only problem with the suit is the insulation of the jacket. Saga's jackets are more of a shell type jacket, with little insulation, yet I have never been cold in it. I' d say its worth the money, but if you can I'd try and stick with whatever you have for this year then buy their ish at the end of the year when their products become uber cheap
 
I've got a Bloom jacket and from what I can tell so far the quality is great, North Face is always going to be great if you've got bills, Saga is great as well, I know Bloom has a sale right now on their new gear thats like 20% off and free shipping so I think you should hop on their stuff.
 
I purchased some of last years Mintchip pants from Bloom. I have only skied

18 days so far and they are cut up by the legs, velcro on leg pocket is

half off, and my right front pockets zipper is falling apart. Now don't

get me wrong I really like the pants but the quality could have been

better. I picked them up for mad cheap but still expect more. This years

line looks much better for quality, and the look of them are dope.

Another thing, Bloom's customer service is excellent.

if you could shell out a little more money buy some trew gear, and you can usually get last years coats and stuff from evo and department of goods for pretty cheap, amazing quality, they are just shells but you can always layer up underneath
 
I have a full suit from bloom this year, everything it top notch, super water proof, Last weekend I skied in dumping wet snow, I was soaking wet on the outside, dry as hell on the inside. This weekend skied in freezing rain, snow, and did some closed run skiing where they were blowing snow, wet and frozen on the outside, warm and dry on the inside, Ive got a couple minor rips on the bottom of my pants, but hey what park skier dosen't? you can't stop that. I would definitely recommend bloom. 10/10

A few more questions about bloom.

I am pretty much sold, but does the water just bead up on the jacket, or does it soak through? Also, I am 5' 7" still growing, and I want my jacket to go to about mid thigh, but not too baggish. I will be getting the 2012 stuff. Large or Medium?
 
I have the highlighter jacket from last year, and for a first year of production I was actually really impressed with the fit and quality of the jacket. I've skied over two full seasons on it now and it's held up pretty well.

the water does indeed beed, it's not a low end fabric that just soaks everything up, I've skied numerous rain days in that jacket and when my saga pants soak through the jacket is still dry underneath.

I only have a few small quams about the jacket. The stitching on one of the vecro straps on the wrist has started to become unstitched, but not that much. The shoulders fit kinda funny because of the removable sleeves, but I don't think that's an issue this year.

The jacket is great, but one of things I really like about it is that you don't see a thousand people at the hill with the same thing.

For sizing, if I were you I'd go large mainly because you are still growing. I'm 6'1 and wear the xl and it's barely baggy.

Check out my review on my Bloom jacket solid stuff, high quality, zero problems and ive put easily over 50 days on it and no problems at all.
 
We've used 20k/20k fabric both this year and last year. As a result, water will not soak through. You'll be dry so don't worry about that. We've got you covered.

I am 5'11" and wear a large. It falls to about my mid thigh. Its the perfect size for me to rock anywhere. If you want to really swag out and have a tall jacket, get the large. It will fit you, but it will be pretty tall. If you want a jacket that you can wear around everywhere then pick up the medium.

I'm not sure how fast you're growing, but I think the medium will fit you better.
