HOST1

- RISK is a live dubstep ensemble filling the gap between the traditional band, the electronic live act and the dj set. It blends all the possibilites of electronic music into one non-stop high-energy performance. Risk tunes start out on a laptop as purely elecronic, mostly dubstep tunes. These tracks then get all risked up, changing up the drum, basslines and adding vocals. At that point it gets somewhat complicated to classify. Gen brings R'n'B, soul and pop influence, Plecko, reggae rythms, Sourultrafast part death metal part funk and wally... well he doesn't want you to know but he used to be a psytrance dj. Hard to describe how it sounds like but somehow, it all becomes coherent when coming at you in the form of heavy bass music.

dupstep ehh?

"ohhh yeah son this here is what daddy used to listen to while he was on MDMA"

or

"Ohhhhh here you go son this is a timeless classic I used to hear in double cork edits on newschoolers"

sounds legit dude, im heading to a Dubstep event on sat, anyone in Melbourne interested? PM me

is nike sponsoring this event? i dont see how nike would allow them other wise to straight up use their name like that with such a negative image.

Looks dope, too bad I live in Colorado and I will be camped out at a movie theater waiting for the last airbender to come out. next time!

you just don't understand what is happening with everything musicly.

and you're not listening loud enough.

explain.. what IS happening musically?

not that I don't like dubstep, but that has to be a pretty weak argument for the genre. as far as music that is appreciated by musicians, it has to be near the bottom of the totem pole. if anything, it should excite programmers, not musicians. its all about sidechains and filter passes and sweeps.

Nice dude Im glad you hate dubstep. But that last claim was pretty fucking stupid. Dubstep isnt music? Are you fucking serious. You know absolutely nothing about this kind of music. Shut up and get out. Go listen to some lil wayne or DMB and suck the veiny commercial dick.

damn I might have to hit that up, we'll see what type of condition I'm in after Camp Bisco.. also seeing Rusko in montreal august 15th.. should be dope.

and for those who think dubstep isn't music.. you're wrong, dubstep/crunkstep/glitch-hop is where it's at.

when i said dubstep isnt music obviously i was exagerating and speaking metaphorically. take yourself a little more seriously next time you reply to a thread.

also, good assumptions you made about me, considering you don't know me. by the way, i hate lil wayne, but dave matthews and every musician in his band are all great musicians. some dude messing around on a laptop making weird bass rhythms???? doesn't even compare.

No they dont compare at all they are polar opposites in music. Some dude messing around on a laptop. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to produce a mix? No im sure you dont because your to busy bro-ing out to DMB....Beer Pong and Date RApe! party on BROOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

haha you're funny. you keep making these assumptions about me that are completely untrue. i dont listen to DMB...ever.

All im saying is dont come into a thread thats trying to promote a dope idea that will prolly have really tight music and bash dubstep. If you dont get down thats cool but stay the fuck out of it instead of trying to insult something that you understand soo little about but claim isnt even music.

dude, my hate for DMB is pretty high up there on my music hatred ladder, but you cannot claim that dubstep is extraordinarily hard to produce.

Yea man lets here an original mix made by you. To get all that bass to actually mean something is hard. Then actually performing it on vinyl and mixing it correctly with your beats matching up. Its pretty difficult to produce good dubstep. Im talking about like Joker quality mixes, that shit aint easy.

lets see... open ableton (or another DAW, though nobody uses anything else any longer), open massive as a plug in, find a Dubby bass preset, hit record, add some LFO, lots of sidechain, and some chopped samples from some popular pop/hip-hop tune. BAM. dubstep remix!

but I don't want to fight about this. just saying, dubstep is not a complicated musical genre. its pretty straight forward actually. most dubstep songs sound nearly identical too.

Im not talking no remixes man legitmate start from scratch with a synth no "Dubby bass preset" bullshit but im not trying to prove anything i just get frustrated when people dont respect music that I love and make.

thats the thing, nobody makes "from scratch" dubstep. 90% of the tracks out there use Massive presets or MILD variations on them.

You're probably referring to that harsh grimy shit that is everywhere now.

It takes a lot less skill to make that sound then an actual nice sounding beat, so of course many people are doing it.

Try out some ill gates, maybe some bassnectar

If you are a producer, Ill.Gates does lectures in random cities. I went to his denver lecture, and it was really informative, but he looks like a douche.

I try my best, unfortunately my best is terrible.

The most I can do is learn and know.

And yes I must agree that he does have that douche look

Although I'm still looking forward to seeing him play next month.
