Blends VS. Chronic

what i know: they are built the same, the blends are wider, the blends have more rocker

what i'm not sure about: flex, swing weight, durability

+k for anyone who can clear this up for me! thanks all!

Don't bump your thread twice in the same day you made it.

The blends are a little softer than the chronics flex wise. Being a fatter ski and with the same core, they have more swing weight but i don't find it an issue at all. They are the same durability wise in which everyone will give you a different answer. My blends are holding up very well after 30 or so days of abuse here in mammoth in which we've been skiing on rocks up untill a few weeks ago.

My blends lasted a full season before pieces of edge started falling out, and I beat them super hard, probably put 60+ days on them, then another 30 or 40 days on them this season before another chunk of edge fell out and i retired them. So way more durable than i was expecting. Can't say how that compares to chronics though.

i have last years blends and this years chronics. Don't really ski at all similar. The blends are MUCH softer, very noodly by the end of their life, and the swing weight for a blend is going to be more then a chronic of the same length simply because of the different widths. I personally prefer the chronics. Much more stable for jumps and going fast. The only place the blend exceeds is butters, pow, and maybe spring slush

be advised that they reduced the swing weight for last years model (the black ones)

I had the ones before, the blue and orange ones, and the swing weight was a huge issue for me. they were also size 178 and im like 5'4 5'5ish so that makes a difference but still, hucking a 4 out was a task and I would come up short quite a bit.

The chronic is more suitable as a technical park ski, but both are extremely fun and fairly durable. If you tend to beat skis to death, these will be no exception but they do claim to have the fatty edge and base which kinda helps i guess

Quit making a ski thread every fucking week. Just sack up and buy a pair before the season is over.

All I can say is that I've been skiing the 11/12 blends for over 130 days and they're holding up great. Flex is great, and even more buttery now that they're noodled out a bit just from the amount of skiing I do on them. I heard lots of bad stuff about the tips snapping on the model year after mine due to there being a separate construction for the tip and tail instead of singular strips of wood running the whole length. I'm not sure if they fixed this problem for this years though. Might be a problem, might not be. They really are a one ski quiver though. If you can only afford one ski and do like to ski everything + have a ski for pow days, the blend is what you want. My friend has the chronic and they kill it everywhere on the hill except when he gets into stuff more than a foot deep they want to dive and just don't have the float. I've skied snow well over 3 ft and the blends kill it man.

I have a pair of last years Blends as well as this years Chronics. The Blends are much more playful because they are super buttery and poppy. The chronics have more of a tailored park feel because of the slightly skinnier waist and stiffer flex. If you are deciding between the two then think about how you want to ride. When I ride my blends i tend to try and be more creative with rails and little trannies i can find and use the flex to its ability. that might just be me tho. Ive ridden both skis about 60 days each and they both got their first edge cracks and ive been putting them through a beating in the park. Overall super impressed with the durability of both skis and I love them both. But for me i like to ride them each a different way.
