Blast at Texas fertilizer plant

fucking huge, damn.

(the accents in this video piss me off though, poor kid)

I feel soooo bad for that kid. I hope she got her hearing back shortly after.

Its a fertilizer plant, literally one of the most combustible places possible. I wouldnt be too worried.

yea seriously, I hope everyone is ok, but why would you even get anywhere near that?

let's think it out.

What's in a lot of homemade bombs? Fertilizer.

What is the probable outcome of a giant building, which is on fire, and happens to be full of fertilizer? An explosion. A very, very big explosion.

I wonder if he knew it was a fertilizer plant? I probably would have been at least twice as far away to watch that.

holy fuck I just read the news. I guess there were a lot of casualties. Pretty sad.

I wonder how long it was on fire before it exploded

The mayor has said almost all the firefighters that were responding are NOT accounted for..... fucking terrible.

Also a near by retirement home collapsed and there are a ton of old people stuck in the rubble.

The fire dept cant get their hands on enough water and even drained the local pool.

They are evacuating the town because theres an crazy amount of poisonous gas floating around

I wouldnt be so sure about that. Theres a good chance they destroyed their eardrums. Neither the dad nor the daughter can hear, you can tell by their interactions. I sure hope they recover, along with everyone else

BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: The massive explosion that rocked a Texas fertilizer plant was so powerful, it registered as a 2.1 magnitude "seismic event" at the USGS.

I dont think a people in this thread realized how many people died let alone anyone when it was first made considering no information was given. Hence a few people came back and commented saying "i didnt realize how many people died"

But yeah it is incredibly hypocritical. When somethings a "terror attack" people have to get all deep and patriotic and pretend like America is a war zone and that what they are saying and doing is much more profound than it really is.

I'm not a doctor but I ruptured one of my eardrums and talking to my ent the amount of force from a noise To make you never hear again would be ridiculous those people were nowhere near the explosion and they will be fine.

Personally, I don't think either of the jokes are that funny... coulda been any of you guys, they just were unlucky enough to have it been them.

Just one thing, so much free space and then they built a fertilizer plant next to a school and hospital?A bit of an urban planning disaster..

Fertilizer plant was most likely there first, then everything else sprung up around it as it already had a road/infrastructure/water/power going to it.

What I'm wondering is why the firefighters were still trying to fight that beast knowing it was a fertilizer plant. There's no way that you're gonna put that fire out and you know that its probably gonna blow at some point.

Could be a possibility, but still that close?

I'd just put some distance between me and a giant supply of ammonium nitrate.

60 people dead what the FUCK. How can that place be in operation / how could anyone ever fucking elect to work there when that's a possibility.

Across America, thousands of people are definitely putting their lives at risk doing various jobs. Accidents happen. Humans become careless by nature especially doing things day in and day out. It takes a little effort to be pro-active and follow directions.

I guess what I'm saying is, if it was an accident...shit happens. Life

IMO, because its a closed case basically. It was an accident, nobody at fault, people died yes, but there is nothing to talk about after mentioning that it happened. Fucking hate the news.
