Black Lives Matter

Edit: I first wrote this post when I searched "black lives matter" on the NS searchbar and didn't find the discussions, but I hear that they're happening. I'm gonna go find them manually, and sorry if I'm covering ground that's already been covered, but here's my 2 cents.

Right now I'm seeing pros supporting BLM left and right, and there is no shortage of rap in our edits though, or black slang in our posts, so I'm just asking real quick if some more folks on here want to get involved too.

If you're already fully down, let me just say fuck yeah, and if you haven't already, please seek out some local protests, get out in the streets, and/or donate. If you're overwhelmed with choosing options to donate to, this link will let you split a donation between 70+ of the bail funds, mutual aid funds, and activist organizations. And if you think you can be a positive influence, please talk to your friends & family who aren't involved yet.

If you consider yourself on the fence, somewhere in the middle ground, "I'm not political", or even if you're for the cause/educated/woke/whatever, but you're not sure why you see all this BLM stuff popping up all over the place all of a sudden...that is to say, if you're open minded and you're anywhere except 100% for (or 100% against) BLM, maybe you could take the 18 minutes to watch this really solid breakdown of the moment we're currently living in by Trevor Noah. It is legit, and to me not preachy at all.

Feel free to reply or dm me if you wanna talk civilly about any of this shit going down right now.

However I'm not here to reply to trolls or racists, but by all means, put your shittyness on record if you want to.

Also I believe on NS's insta and Facebook they've had links about donations with there blackout and other posts.

Hey nobody's grandstanding, I'm putting out resources and calmly asking those who are interested to check them out. I don't speak for anybody but myself. Cool move handing out beers too, I love that.

Most of the discussion has moved to rhis thread but there's a few others. But this ones been at the top of the board and the most active.

Nothing else is going on in the world and people need to speak up. Just a lot rubs me the wrong way.

OK I think I've read through most all of the discussions, actually there's lots of positions I can get behind for sure, obviously a handful that I can't. Hopefully I'm posting late enough to miss pulling in much of that anger to this thread, but whatever. I had two links and an opinion to toss out there, so there you go. Happy to see that I'm late and it's being discussed.

Dont bother with the NS search bar, its basically worthless. Just go to Google and search the subject then "Newschoolers". It works really well and ive even pulled up old threads from like 2003 that way.

Curious if NS is ever gonna take a hard stance on racist posts and dm's? How many times does gluckgluck aka double cup have to say the n word before being forced to create another account. Lot of other borderline and definitely racist posts by other members on the site too.

Do we just let it slide and say free speech?

Consider creating a flagging system to flag posts, then then mods would get notifications with a link to the post.

I'm all about donating but if it is to get people out of jail for looting, setting fires or rioting then it's wrong.
