yes, i realize this might be tmi for ns but fuq the haters. I'm convinced the pill is making me gain weight and be a crazy bitch, so I'm going off of it after two years. BUT: ya girl is not about to get pregnant, so what should I do. Ive heard good things about IUD's, the shot, and the arm implant, but idk what to do! i don't really want to do anything hormonal anymore so maybe IUD? Idk. what has been you ladies' experiences?

So, the IUD didn't work for me, my body didn't like it. However, several of my friends have had amazing luck with one, and they swear it's the way to go. They're covered for five years. I've had good luck with the Depo Shot, I tried the nuva ring (though i don't recommended it for active girls) and now I'm on a super low dose pill.

Talk to your OBGYN about what's going on, they might be able to help more!

ALSO: One IUD is non hormonal, and it's the copper one. It lasts ~10 years. The other has super super low hormones I believe. Bedsider.org has some super helpful info on them:https://bedsider.org/methods/iud

I have the nexplanon implant between my left bicep/tricep. I literally hated the pill because i gained so much weight and had acne issues, plus sometimes i'd forget to take it and my body would go whack.I really recommend this implant because it's super chill and lowkey (i've had it since december) and I haven't worried one bit about pregnancy or whatever. Plus I don't get my period anymore which is SICK.

Just use condoms dude. that simple.... the trojan bareskin ones are the best I've found. You can also use the lambskin ones but they dont protect against stds. just don't f@#k any shady dudes.

That happened to me when I first started taking BC around age 15 until about 16. Then I got off of it and was no longer a psycho bitch and stopped gaining weight. Then I went on a different pill (Lyrana generic version of Yaz), and was not a crazy bitch. But I did gain a little more weight. Recently within the past 4 months I started a new BC (can't remember the name but can look it up if you're interested) because I stopped taking my acne medication and wanted my BC to help clear my skin more. Love this one. I feel awesome on it and haven't gained any weight... But I've also been eating way healthier.

My roommate had an IUD and it slipped so she had to get it removed. She passed out from the pain so idk if you want to go through that. Now she has another IUD and seems to be bumpin fine with her boy friend. But she's a psycho bitch. Not sure how much of that is the IUD she has since hers is hormonal.

I recommend you use condoms, but don't rely on them. It's not worth it in my opinion. Get on some sort of other BC. You never know what's gonna happen.

I have tried probably 10 different pills cause I've had issues with so many of them, the best luck i have had is with Sprintec but its a generic one haha. My periods would give me the worst pain in my knees,I wouldn't be able to ski or do anything active because they would hurt so bad. I hope you find one that works for you.

I used to take Apri, and the only problems I had was my mood swings were more severe than any other time in my life, and I usually just felt gross. I switched to the Mirena IUD with zero problems. My boyfriend noticed my mood leveled out and I was way happier in only a matter of days. It worked really well for me. Getting it in kinda sucked for about 15 minutes (like bad cramps, but not horrible) then I just chilled for a day, was perfectly fine to hop on a plane the next day, then wear 5 inch heels to a wedding the next.. I think I got especially lucky, but I love this thing. No more refills, bloating, crazy tears out of nowhere or remembering to do it every day. Also no babies.

i think i might go with the iud, is yours copper or hormonal? I've definitely had issues with mood swings and crying attacks, etc. I've been on hormonal birth control for nearly three years (as i said) but I'm really just over it. and yeah i feel pretty gross too.

I love my Mirena. Zero problems, except for the insertion. It's painful. Very, very painful. So much so that when I get my new one inserted in July, I'm asking for local anesthesia. I didn't have luck with the pill. It was very expensive and I had too many side effects. I switched to Depo and that was even worse. Weight gain and terrible mood swings. It's been 5 years with Mirena and I haven't noticed any changes in my physical or mental health. Good luck!

Get the fuck off the pill ASAP. You'll be so much happier and way less crazy.

I got the copper coil (look it up, I'm from the UK) and it's awesome.

Kinda late to the convo here but I'd thought I'd give my input. I don't trust myself enough to take the pill regularly with something as important as not getting pregnant. My boyfriend of two years and I got super tired of condoms and it was getting expensive so we saved up and I went and got the Nexplanon implant in my left arm. It would have cost like $400 but planned parenthood gave it to me for free based off of an income bracket. Sick. I've had it for a year now (it lasts 3) and it took my body a long ass time to adjust. Right of the bat I gained 20lbs in the first few months with working out consistently and I had awful mood swings and wack periods that would last for 3 weeks. I went back in and they gave me a estrogen supplement (since the implant is progesterone only) to take like birth control for 1 month and that fixed it for me. After a year I think I'm fully adjusted. I'm losing weight, regular periods, and more mellow mood. And now I don't have to worry about it at all. SUPER SWEET. It's the most effective method, up there with getting your tubes tied. And it gives you a really low dose of progesterone consistently so you feel way more in balance once you adjust. Really recommend for anyone who's low maintenance and can't remember to take the pill.

The IUD is the way to go. It sucks when it is being put in but its 10 seconds of pain for 10 years of protection. I went with Paraguard, which is hormone free. Your period will be a little worse for 3-6 months but then it will settle down. Good luck!
