Bindings lever loose

Hi,

DIY bindings install: binding lever wiggles up and down on Atomic Colt 7 binding. Forward pressure is good. Boots look locked and snug. No side movement at all. Bindings and boots ISO5355 compatible.

Is this normal?

Thank you for your help!

Pretty sure its all good. The wiggle looks like bad design but the heel is completely clicked in.

A. That binding was dogshit so it makes sense it wiggles

B. The heel was a two stage design, similar to the Marker TCX or the Salomon Shift. Instead of the heelpiece being one solid thing, like a Griffon or a Pivot, its two. Sort of hard to explain but the part that is wiggling acts like a lever of sorts to engage/disengage the heelpiece. Boot is engaged and this was something that was relatively common with bindings like that, even my Shift did the same thing when I owned it.

Thank you!

I still can return them and I'll probably will.

Though I'll need others, so what should I stay away from? Do all Salomon / Atomic bindings sucks, or only this particular design?

I got Tyrolia Peak 4.5 for my daughter. Everything looks good with these, though I have no idea if they are good or "Dogshit" as well ...

I'm looking at Look, Marker and Tyrolia/Head to replace the Atomic ... around the $100 mark

Are the Colt 7 also on a kids ski? What is the intended use case for the binding?

yes. His DIN is 3. the intended use is just recreational skiing, including black diamond trails, not an aggressive skier though.

Cool, what is the waist width on the ski?

probably not for a 10yo / 90lbs!

I couldn't find any Look at the right width around 7 DIN max at my regular stores ...

Look NX7 is a good junior binding at a reasonable price point if you can find a store near you that has em

That’s just the way the action on that kind of cam binding works.

The shift heel lever has a similar looseness when locked in and it’s a binding that costs 3+x as much.
