Bindings for FAT skis?

I'm getting some skis with 113mm waists. I've heard you need to buy special wide-based bindings so that they don't put too much torque on the ski and rip out. Which model of bindings (Look, Dynastar, Rossi) would these be?

I'm really only interested in Look/Rossi/Dynastar. Which are the wide-based models? Just because it says Wide Break, doesn't mean they have a wider base.

I might be wrong but i'm pretty sure all look/rossi/dynastar bindings are the same width. The jesters and griffons are wider

I don't know any sorry but i just had a look at the rossi website and they have wide models but don't know if they are actually any wider than the normal ones, the video on one of them just said the AFD was wider

For skis wider than 100mm its been recommended to me that you get a wider binding. When you put the ski on edge, it twists and creates torque. A binding with a narrower base can rip out of the ski easier. I know a few guys who haven't gotten wider bindings and ruined their new skis.

thats what happened to my hellbents because i had look p14's on them.

now im looking into some tyrolia/head/4frnt 18's for new bents.

Jester/Griffon has a wider mounting pattern than Rossi/Look/Dynastar and STH has a wider mounting pattern than Jester/Griffon. I know you said Rossi/Look/Dynastar, but you also asked for wide. Oh and Rossi/Look/Dynastar are all the same design, all the same width mounting pattern.

you sound like your reading the marker catalogue...
you re limiting yourself to one binding, look, rossi, dynastar are all the same binding. and they all have the same mounting pattern. and jesters only have a few mm wider pattern, they aren't a revolution in riding bindings are bindings... brakes are the only thing you have to worry about with wider skis, and even then you can bend ones you already have. wider skis have more rip outs, so get a binding that won't pre-release that's cheap and keep riding. if you are only looking for those specific brands I recommend the PX14, unless you're a big guy and shred hard. then get the PX18.

I had jesters on my hellbents, but I ripped them out twice this season. (I'm 6'3" 190, so it wasn't that surprising) so I switched to the sth 16 on the stiffer LL2. hopefully I won't get any more rip-outs

let it be known that jesters actually dont ahve a wider screw pattern than rossi px series or sths the plastic just extends further.

Yeah, I might look into Marker, but am staying away from Salomon. Had too many bad experiences on their bindings in the past.

Thanks for the info guys.

i have look p10's on my 110mm lizzies and i havent had any problems on them...been riding for a season. ive seen a good amount of wide skis with FKS too, and those have a tiny hole pattern, but the people i know riding them have never had any rip outs..i guess its kinda hit or miss with a rip out

no, it mainly has to do with how big you are + how hard you ride. I'm guessing that you aren't that big if you're riding lizzies w/ p10s, so you probably won't have any rip-outs

STH 16

totally dominate Griffons and Jesters

Got them on my LL2s with 115mm brakes and couldnt be happier
