Bindings for El Reys

i just bought some el ray 171s, and i'm wondering if you all had advice on a good, inexpensive set of bindings for them.

i'll be using them as my everyday all-mountain ski, so some park, some steeps, some pow, a bit of everything, and i'm 5'10" 165 and a high intermediate in ability.

the two bindings people have recommended so far are the 4frnt deadbolt 816 and the look px 12 ti jib wide. anyone have thoughts on those or any other bindings you think might work well?

thanks

you can get the rossi axial 120 for like a hundred bucks on evogear, i got a pair but cant comment as i have not mounted them yet

Those are kind of different bindings.

Deadbolts 816 are high DIN bindings while the PX12 Jib (my binding) is a bit lower. You can't set the DIN on the 816 below 8 (I think correct me if Im wrong for some reason) just so u know, while the Jibs are like 4 or something.

Personally, I think momentum is shifting back to Salomon. Now that theyve bridged the gap between shitty S912's and bomber racing S916's with lighter more durable bindings, I would def pick up a pair of sollys. I think the STH 12's would probably be just okay for u depending on how hard u ski. If u ski wicked hard then maybe theyre not quite as bomber as u need them to be. However the STH16 is a serious clamp, minimum DIN being at 9. If u need a binding now higher than 12 but lower then 16 go with the Rossi Scratch 140 ti, theyll do ya fine. If ur waiting till next year, then go with theyre two STH14 models coming out. Im prolly getting new sticks and I am as sure as hell picking up a pair of those clamps.

Great post, + karma.

I agree with his reply. I have some older Salomon bindings I got since they were so light, but they are anything but durable. The new ones are much better. For you I would suggest the PX 12 simply because it is durable and cost effective. If you have some extra cash, check out some of the other bindings we mentioned.
