Bindings for AK JJs?

hey all, i just purchased 2011-2012 Armada AK JJs :) my question is what kind of bindings do you think i should get? i don't know much about bindings. i'm a 6'6 230 advanced skier that likes to go everywhere on the mountain including some park.

also, should i get them mounted dead center or maybe slightly behind center? Thanks for any advice people!!

are you going to be touring? if yes get duke or tracker or guardian even tho the last 2 dont come out til next season. if not get griffons or jesters.

if i was your size i would go with either rossi/loo fks 18s, salomon sth 14 or 16s (driver toes) rossi/look px 15/18s. I personally am 6'3'' 170 lbs and i use fks 15s and px 15s

Ok so you're a big guy, your going to want a binding that can hold up to abuse. A griffon is now an entirely plastic binding so I wouldn't suggest those, jesters sound like a solid bet but I've had bad experiences with jesters, I have found that the heel piece slides back on the rail. If I were you I would get a full metal binding like Rossi FKS180, Look Pivot 18 or the Salomon STH 16

Hope this helps, If you have any more questions just pm me

THIS!

If I were your size/skier level, I would grab some Peak 18s. They are light yet super stable, easy to get on, and just bomb-proof overall. Fairly cheap too.

can you guys tell me the difference between the STH 14s and the STH 16s? ive been looking at the 14s but ill start looking at the 16s.

theres no logic to it... its just facts ive seen and heard of the heel piece of markers tearing out of the JJ i think its due to the skinny mount pattern on the heel piece but either way markers and JJ's dont get along

the marker royal family bindings have the most narrow heel pattern of pretty much any freeride binding on the market...

because of this, on wider skis, you torque the shit out of one tiny spot on the ski and your weight/force isn't even distributed throughout the ski... which can lead to binding pull outs which is not only super dangerous in certain situations, but no ski manufacturer will warranty binding pull outs

marker realized this was such a problem, that they HAD to redesign the duke for 2012-13, and make the heel pattern 10mm wider to accommodate the wider skis people are using these days... and if you know anything about bindings - they are expensive as shit to design, let alone redesign, and make all shops buy new bindings, jigs, etc. Must have been a pretty big problem?
