Bindings/Brakes

Just got them mounted. I specifically told my rep about the fks 14 L and instead i got the XXL. At first I didn't think much but now they are on the ski and I'm debating sending them back in/remounting with a 90mm brake. My ski is 88 underfoot but if I were to send them in, I'd have no wheels to ride on for 2-3 weeks until I got them back. I've gone into 2 shops already and they either donthaave the brakes in stock for this binding (due to the heel piece) or it is "too difficult to swap" (that's bullshit, i am paying you...)

When clicked in, the 'catch' of the brake is level with the top sheet so I doubt I would ever catch it even if I were laying it down on a turn on a groomer. Is it worth it to change it out? The brake is 115mm I believe...

You're going to hooke the brake arms on your pants or the other brake arm, and you'll constantly be landing onf them unless you've got cowboy stance. Replacing the brake on the fks heel means taking the heel apart, which most shops wont do cheaply, or at all. I believe Rossi expects you to buy the binding with the correct brake width when you buy skis, its lame but considering the liability involved when you start reconstructing heel pieces, i can see why.

damn thanks rowen.

you really think I will clip them? I may send them in or actually try to swap the brakes but I will call rossi tomorrow or on Monday and see what the deal is...

also, i believe they are the same hole pattern. I've never remounted in the same holes before...do I need to plug them first? how does this work, i'm concerned that the mount would just be weak and oh, there goes my ski and my binding is attached to my foot

put tape or something over the holes as soon as they're off to make sure no moisture or anything gets in there. using the same holes a second time is fine.

Reusing holes is fine, I'd just add that should any screw not firmly seat when you remount them, you stripped the threads somehow and will have to get it heli coiled. Just be really careful when you drop them back in, sink them in a cross pattern and go a little bit at a time on each one till they're all firm.
