Binding review

I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the salomon z12 ti binding, like whether or not you think it's a good binding and what type of skiing it's typically used for and the durablity of the binding.

They're super light and good if you don't weigh much and/or don't ride aggressively at all. They do have a tendency to break because they are primarily plastic. I would suggest going for a higher DIN Salomon binding or if you don't want something that goes past 12, go for the Look PX 12 or Rossignol Axial 120.

well I weigh about 162 and ride somewhat aggressively, occassionally i'll have a couple hard impacts but I figured a din of 12 would be plenty

the sth 12 is another good bet. its heavier, but sturdier. great binding from what i hear

A DIN of 12 would probably be fine, but don't get Solly binders - at your weight, you'll probably break em.

thanks for recommendations but i've already bought the z12's and was just wondering what everyone thought of them. they seem like they're going to be pretty sturdy but I did notice they were made alot of plastic as the first guy said so that kinda worries me alittle bit.

i hope you don't plan on landing switch very much on any jumps bigger than like 20 feet. at that point they'll start prereleasing, and you'll realize you made a mistake. i learned this from personal experience 3 seasons ago.

I don't really plan to be landing switch much but i do plan to be buttering and things like that, you think the bindings will be alright for that?

they should be fine since buttering isn't to hard on gear..

it sounds like you do not ski to hard, so you should be fine. The person who said STH 12 will break at his weight, I am about 160lbs and I have skied 912 914 and STH 12 very hard and they all did fine. That includes park(jumps especially, some pipe and rails) and plenty of cliffs. I would rather have the Tyrolias I am putting on my new skis now, but STH series and 9 series shouldn't break from a 160lb guy. the TI is another story though, they are not good for hard skiers.
