Binding Question

So today I went out with some friends to build a jump and mess around for a while. I tried a front flip, got about 3/4ths of the way around and landed on my tails and butt. I unfortunately couldn't try again because one of the toe pieces of my bindings twisted out of place... Like the piece of the binding that holds my boot in rotated about an axis parallel to my skis... just look at the photos at the end. I was pissed for a while, then went back to my room with a hammer and a screw driver, loosened my DIN all the way, and hit the binding a couple of times with the hammer until it snapped back into place.

Im just wondering how safe these bindings are to use now. Are they not as safe any more due to the stretching of the spring inside the binding. They are px14's and are 2-3 years old.

Thanks.

Gear talk, but id suggest you to clip your boot in and check the forward realease when you give a good hit on the side of your boot. If it holds good and only release with the right force and there isnt apparent broken pieces your should be fine, or get it checked at a shop.

It's probably fine. But go to your local store and pay $10 for them to check your bindings. The money saved isn't worth compromising your legs safety.

my friend ate some major shit on a rodeo 5 and the same thing happend to him, thats the toe release for hard falls, sometimes your din cranks up too and makes it hard to spin back but from what youre explaining youre good. all bindings are made either to do this or some split down the middle, thats why there is a din on your toe, just make sure its spinned back all the way then replace your din to equal what it is on the other side obviously

but yeah to sum up my shitstorm of words bindings are made to do that so you dont take a hard one in the ass so youre fine

Okay awesome. Thanks guys. I'll take a casual day with some less experienced friends to test it out and see how the binding feels when put under stress

that happened to me on look demo bindings once. Just just have to kick it or punch it hard enough and it will go back to the original position. you still might want to get it release tested though

You should be happy the binding did it's job so you still have ligaments. That is supposed to happen.

Happened to a couple people I know, theyre meant to do that if needed, you can use them.

I realize this is an old thread, but if this happens to anyone, crank the din all the way out, and I mean all the way. The toe wings will release from the din screw/nut/ whatever you'd like to call it and you can realign them properly and screw it all back together. This avoids beating on them with a hammer, hammer + plastic = bad. Don't lose any parts and don't blame me if you fuck up.
