Binding Options

I picked up some Dynastar 6th Sense Spins over the summer and they came with some demo bindings. I'm looking at a few different options to replace the demo bindings with. If you have any experience riding with any of these, please share.

1. Dynastar PX 12 Jib

2. Marker Squire

3. Dynastar NX 12 Jib

I'm not looking to spend over $200. If there's any other viable options, let me know.

As always, +k will be awarded for good opinions.

I almost pulled the trigger on the PX12 jib before I bought a set of PX14 TI bindings.

The only thing that turned me off to the PX12 jib was the composite heal. It is plenty strong believe me. I've been riding on a set of SAS2 100s (essentially the same thing, but lower DIN range) all last season with zero problems.

Performed very well. Heald on tight and always releases when needed. Had a little bit of a problem double ejecting in pow here and there when it got sticky, but mainly because the skis I was using at the time loved to dive. It took quite a bit of effort keeping those tips floating.

Out of those three choices, I'de recommend the PX12 over the NX12 because the PX12 has the axial heel which provides elastic travel. Essentially, if you stomp a sketchy landing, the heal will give/travel quite a bit before releasing. This gives you time to recover before your skis go flying off. IDK if you're familiar with that type of binding, but it's one of my favorite features and the reason I like to stick with the axial heel pieces.

As for the squire, I have no first hand expereince with marker nor do I know much about them so hopefully someone else will chime in.

how much do you weigh? how tall are you? how aggressively do you ski? what's your boot sole length? all those questions come in to factor on your DIN setting, which is a pretty big deciding factor as far as what binding to get. if your DIN should be a 5, you probably don't want to waste your money on the PX12, since you'd be at the very bottom of the DIN range, and you really wouldn't be taking advantage of what makes that binding more expensive than the PX10 Team or the Rossi SAS100. I haven't skied the squire, but it seems cheap to me. Whatever you do, don't get the NX. it will explode as soon as you heel release landing switch.

I'm not going to be maxing out a PX 12, but it's actually my cheapest option right now so that's why I'm leaning that direction.

Griffons aren't even durable. Squires are made with even worse materials than Griffons. Squires are shit. What is your height, weight, BSL, ability level?

They aren't that heavy, I don't understand why people complain about binding weight.

They are right under your foot, you barely notice any difference. The only time you really feel a difference is when you carry your skis. Plus who doesn't want a good arm workout?

With your skier profile, 110% PX12s. You'll love 'em and they'll be plenty durable and reliable for you, but go for the Jibs if you can. They have that nice 3mm suspension pad underneath the binding to soften landings.
