Binding mounting question for my father.

My father recently purchased last years seths in a 179 and some look px 12 lifter bindings. He is 63years old, 5' 8" and about 140 pounds. He is going to be using these skis as his only pair of skis. He skis vail the majority of the season, sometimes beaver creek, but all of the mountain, groomers, crud, and powder whatever. He is a very solid skier, and for 63 he charges. He does not know where he wants his skis to be mounted, obviously switch skiing is not a concern of his although he mentioned not wanting a lot of ski in front of him leaving him with short tails. He asked me "what do I tell craig", his tech/tuner guy, "in exact words where I want my bindings mounted there are too damn many choices on the side here." Any input would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

hmm well if he doesn't want to have more tail you could go core center...but i would suggest just under center? if that sounds like a good possibility...thats how my dad went, because he wanted more tail as well but didn't want them at center like mine.

Your dad not wanting much ski in front of him (more in the tail) does not make much sense considering his background as you described it...

I just meant he did not want to mount at the furthest point back. but still be an "atv" style of ski.

have him stand on him, where hed feel most comfortable. then mark his midsole. i never pay attention to the mounting positions, i just go with what feels comfortable for me. but if he still has no clue, id say about 2-3 back from core center. any further back and they just feel ridiculous.
