i went to my local ski shop and they said they didnt have the wide jig for the salomon bindings what the fuck does that mean they said they cant mount them i'm fucking pissed off

The piece of equipment that allows them to mount bindings will not fit around the sides of your ski, as it is too fat. They can freehand it but then you'd be screwed if they fucked up. Find a better shop... hell, I had one tell me that they wouldn't mount my bindings because they had PAINT on them. What the fuck is that about??

Depends on where the paint is. If it's on an AFD, or anywhere where the tech thinks it could impair binding functions, they're not gonna mount it, and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it.

It's called indemnification. We have to be sure that the binding is functional, safe, blahblahblah, because when we mount bindings, OUR ASSES ARE ON THE LINE if you get hurt. Basically, we're responsible to make sure your gear is safe, and if we feel in any way that it isn't, then we won't mount it. You might think it's stupid, you might even be right about your particular binding being safe (maybe the paint was somewhere where it didn't do shit), but if the tech feels otherwise, he's not gonna mount your skis. Simple as that.

Most people fail to understand the unfortunate legal ramifications of mounting skis.

Seriously Simon, how dumb do you think I am? I understand negligence. The fact is, it wasn't an issue, and I could've signed off on it anyway. It was one tech who happened to have an opinion and couldn't be dissuaded. PB has turned into fucking sport chek. I had to explain to the guy behind the counter specifically that I got to decide where I wanted them put, that the tech didn't determine my mounting position.

Whatever, I took it down the block and gave it to snowcovers, they honestly could not give less of a shit, they'll stick your DIN at 20 if you ask them to. And it was masked up when it was painted, all of the DIN windows were visible and everything, none of the functioning / moving areas were painted... I can show you if you want. It really should not be an issue, which was why I was pissed (well, also the fact that they'd kept my skis for a week and told me alternatively that there'd be no problem and then that there was then not then yes again, then to come back tomorrow and they'd be done, and finally to "take a cloth and clean off all the paint"... yeah fucking right). The only thing that could be an issue is if the paint somehow causes the plastic to degrade, and since krylon fusion is meant to bond to plastic... yeah.

Don't lecture me... I'm not retarded.
