Binding help, keep ejecting

So I’m a pretty new skier and I’m tryna get better at rails and butters/presses. (I’m not very good at them can’t get my toe piece all the way off the snow doing a nose press at speed) I’m riding armada arv 84’s and armada n l10 bindings on ft drop kick pros and I’m 5’11 150. My problem is when I’m going slow or on flat ground doing a nose butter and really trying to practice and get a high press I double eject out of my bindings. And I have my Dins maxed out at 10/10.5 out of max of ten on both my toe and heel pieces. Because of this I’m kinda scared to try nose presses and really throw my weight because I feel like I’ll just eject out. Should I get higher din bindings and potentially new skis next season. If so ski and/or binding suggestions are welcome. If I need new gear I was thinking Vishnu wets 177 and pivot 15’s or surface royales and pivots or attack 16’s. Thanks for helping a newbie out guys ??

There's a good chance your bindings are not set up correctly, check forward pressure, AFD adjustment.

There's also a good chance that you're too big for the junior set up you're riding. Stepping up to the ARV 86/96, or whatever ski you like and a 13 din binding would be more appropriate for your size. Pivot 12-14, Attack 13, STH 13 are all good for 90+% of people.

I don't double eject out of my Griffons which are currently set at around 10 out of 13 (because I like to crank my bindings, ACL be damned) so either ya bindings are set up incorrectly or it is indeed time for you to move up to a heavier spring binding. I've never had problems with marker but you can't go wrong with attacks or pivots at all. Try to remount if you can to save some cash money.

Fwiw I’m 5’11” 185lb and I don't have any problems ejecting during nose butters or nose blocks with my dins set to 9 so i’d first make sure the bindings are set up correctly if I were u. I’m on pivot 14s and attack 16s so maybe there’s also a chance that the whole theory about middle vs end of the din range has some merit?(kinda doubt it tho)

I'm 120 pounds and i could balance on my noses with din 5 marker squires so i don't think your din is the problem

How would I adjust or check my afd and forward pressure and what should I be looking for?

What exactly am I supposed to be looking for on my afd?

Use google to figure out how to correctly adjust the afd and forward pressure on your specific bindings. The internet is a tool. Use it.

Afd height isn’t adjustable on that binding, click your boot in and take a picture of the heel piece. But from the sounds of it it might be best to let a shop tech take care of this.

those bindings also aren’t really made to do what you are doing on them, they are about the same level as a marker squire. They don’t have the same ability to keep you in as better bindings do, if you have them cranked all the way to 10 it might be time to consider a new set up.

Gotcha will do??

I hope this helps. Okay gotcha I’ll take it to the shop to get checked out when I get a chance for sure. Thanks for any advice.

Thanks guys you were partially right my forward pressure can be a little bit further forward. I got new boots with a different bsl this season and I don’t think the shop adjusted the forward pressure enough.

It’s controlled with that little tab but I can’t get it to budge so I’m just going to take it into the shop. If that doesn’t work I guess it’s time for a new setup since you can’t adjust the afd on this binding. Thanks for all the help guys. It’s much appreciated ??

bindings may be all the way forward, and with a smaller shell/BSL the forward pressure will be off, adjusting thoose can be a pita, but yeah shop guy should have you sorted in a minute, checking out options

yep that’s exactly what happened I think. My bsl went from a 309 to 301.

Fr fr, I just wanna learn as much as I can about gear, and about riding and getting better at skiing. Arguably the most fun thing I’ve done. Idk why but for some reason it’s so much more gratifying than snowboarding, i think it’s because all of the techniques and it feels more technical so there’s more to learn.

Learning new stuff is cool though :)

Update I adjusted the forward pressure to the right amount still popped out instantly doing a small nose press in my front yard. At this point idk since that’s the only thing you can adjust on these bindings besides dins. Maybe it’s technique or something but I’m out of ideas.

For your height and weight I’d get a ski at least 180 and up. Especially if it’s vishnu. And for bindings at your height and skier ability a properly set up pair of attack 13s or pivot 12s are plenty. I use pivot 14s and I’m 5’11 and 180lbs at 9 and they refuse to come off. Get something in the 13 din range and just use the recommended din they give you and you’ll be set and once you get better and really work your skis to the point where they come off you can VERY SLIGHTLY adjust them up

Id also recommended bdogs in the 180 size if you want something soft.

Gotcha, I am a bit of a beanpole so that makes sense on the binding front lol. But quick question why bdogs over v’s I know bdogs have a more stable mid section than the v’s do but I’m kinda tryna get a noodle of a ski.

They become mega noddles, not sold out most of the time, and more stable when going anywhere else and if the park gets icy. Both would be fine I was just giving a recommendation. If you get vs tho make sure they are 183s

In that case your bindings are probably ready for the trash

Big bet, just curious about the bdogs and why so many people like them. But yea the more suggestions the merrier. Thanks for the feedback

Got you what din setting would you recommend. I assume whatever binding I get will have more adjustability in terms of afd and forward pressure and more elasticity toe and heel to keep me in better at lower dins. So I’m guessing that’s why I wouldn’t run the same dins as I do now?

I would advise against going straight to ten on your new bindings right away

Ah big bet. Thanks g
