Biking - Road - Mountain - Dirt Jumping - Downhill - BMX

What's up NS'rs? Tis the season to put the skis away for most of us not fortunate enough to get to a Summer Camp or setup. So then what? Do you find yourself riding bikes to pass time in the off season?

Let's see some photos and videos of your riding this season or last. Where do you ride? Maybe we can get a group of us together and go for a ride this Summer.

If you have any tech/service/sales questions please feel free to post them up here and we'll try our best to answer them for you.

haha, this,

I ride road, XC, DH, BMX, and DJ, mostly DH though. It's the closest summer version of skiing, besides skiing

I ride a Diamondback mountain bike (one of the 300 dollar ones from dicks). I just started mountain biking this spring, like three weeks ago. I've only rode a few trails in my town, mostly really rocky downhill trails, but mostly trails that go down from Castle Craig in Meriden, CT. Theres an access road that we drive the bikes up to the top, ride down, and have another car waiting to drive back to the top.

I have a qq,

I don't have disk breaks. Do I really need them? Can I get the parts to put them on my non-disk break bike?

depends, check the fork and frame for disk brake mounts. If they're there, you can do it, although, there isn't much of a point to putting disc brakes on a 300 dollar bike. If you're riding it that seriously you're going to need to upgrade sooner or later. hell, a decent set of brakes alone will run around 300 dollars.

I do all kind of stuff, loads of DH, FR, DJ, AM. BMX. I just got out on my first road ride of the season yesterday though so that will become a staple for me this year I think.

Also, does anyone here ride Whistler? I will be up there a lot this summer if some things work out and would be stoked to ride with some people.

Downhill season is about to start in AUS! First race was canceled after the track was destroyed in the last national round. :(

Bought this last year. Only got out for a couple long rides so hopefully i can do more this summer.

Never owned a quality bike before but this summer I'm gonna drop like 3 grand on a brand new setup. Any ideas on a downhill? mountainbike. sorry i'm new to this game.

don't just drop a load on a full suspension bike, get a decent hardtail and learn to ride downhill on that, you'll improve far quicker and it means when you do cross over to the rear travel you'll be a far smoother rider and quicker too.

if you are set on a downhill rig then giant is always a safe option, the older glories are particularly good for beginners as they're pretty robust, haven't been on the latest frame tho.

also look out for nukeproof's new frame, really good geo and pretty cheap for a decent set up-not sure how easy they are to get over in the US tho.

also have a look at specialised, maybe something like the status or status 2. if you can stretch then obviously the demo is the one to get from that range.

go into your local and see what they suggest, probably the wisest option.

We've got a ton of BMX action going down at camp in addition to the ski program. Lots of racing along with an awful lot of trail/dirt jump riding and indoor and outdoor park shredding. We're looking into building some mtn. bike specific trails in the next few years, we'll see.

Biking is such a fun summer alternative to skiing and it does a might fine job of keeping you in shape in the off season.

I am 6'4" and have a large build. (I'm a big dude.) Not sure what to buy but I'm guessing a larger frame with decent suspension? Just want something that feels comfortable size-ways so I can charge it.

These days, I road bike, picking up a new one this summer probably, then will have some trips planned with my room mate so he can rebuild his knee. I used to downhill in Golden, BC. There is a pretty large scene there (two dh mountains, tons of cross country), however, about 5 or 6 years ago, I took a rather odd crash and ended up tearing the ligament that holds my ulna to my wrist. After that, I stopped riding. I do want to try and get back into it though.

i ride bmx, got a few jumps im working on at my house. Other then that i ride apple creek trails and sometimes Ohio Dreams.

ride a lot of cross country, just a means of training for dirt bike races. but it beats the hell out of the gym, and i love every minute of it!!

Where is this lower trail with the berms and jumps? There are definitely some fun trails in the lehigh valley/reading area.

I think he means to watch... but the DH is a bit better now with the improvements. still not worth the entry price imo, its more of a flowy jumpy fire road now.

I'm the coach/manager/everything for my highschool's XC racing team this year pretty stoked!! I'll post some pics later maybe. Love biking, started out a little BMX but now I am all about DH and XC.

I ride XC about 1-3 times a week and also ride my single speed or old hardtail mtb around for transportation a majority of the time if i dont need a car for long distances or carrying things

I did DH at whisltler last summer and it was the most fun i have ever had on two wheels, it was almost as fun as a pow day of skiing. though I was probably one of the biggest dh-gapers on the mtn with my dad and bro on those neon kona stinkys you rent in the village, haha. People were screamin in behind us all the time and i didnt know what to do so pulled off to the side half the time which is apparently the wrong thing and just road slowly with them behind me half the time which made me feel really bad for them

Down hill mountain biking is the tits. I live toft on the side of a mountain so I will make sine trails with jumps and what not this summer, should be fun

CAN anyone recommend me a Dirt jumping bike?!!???? i have a bmx, dont really go to the parks anymore but have a tun of trails near my house with some nice sized dirt jumps, really want a hard tail dirt jumping bike dont have that much cash so cant spend alot probably around 900 ish, i know i can get something amazing but i dont ride super hard, just looking to bomb around the trails

Used yo Durt Jump, now am BMXing! Looking into getting a Fit Edie 3 or a WTP Versus, can't chose

this this this, Thats what I ride and I love it I've put it through some major abuse and its still going strong.

Blk Mrkt mob, or riot. Banshee amp. Transition trail or park. Cove sanchez. I dont really like what specialized did to there DJ line up this year, seems like they have went cheap on there components this year. Most dirt jumpers are very similar so just try to find a decent one for a good deal.
