Bigsky Park

The jumps are nothing special but I absolutely love Big Sky's rail setup, its super sick in my opinion. Big Sky really isn't a huge park mountain, so I recommend skiing the terrain there as much as possible, especially if you're visiting from the midwest or east.

the park is meh, rails are ok, theyre not set up with any flow at all kind of just randomly placed there...and the jumps blow dick

its honestly not terrible, all of us who have been skiing it for a couple years are a little disappointed because it pales in comparison to last year, but there are quite a few solid features on the rail front. the jumps blow though, be careful, lots of kids have been pretty fucked up on them

Yea i dunno whats going on with bigskys park this year but its a huge let down for sure... Makes me wonder wtf they've been doing all winter. Last years park was better with less snow idk. Honestly besides the jump aspect Bridgers park is just as fun.

ok I see that you all really want to see some answers here. Here is the deal...

Lets start with rocks in the park...

Rocks in the park occur because the actual "dirt" in swifty park is not dirt it is a complete shale rock base. That means if a cat driver dips his blade one inch to low it does not just bring up dirt it brings up a good amount of these small rocks that the get churned into the snow. That is what you are seeing through swifty park.

Rail features, I am in the middle of throwing away many rails and putting in budget requests for this coming summer. Most of big sky's features are close to 8 years old. The average terrain park rail lasts maybe 4 years before it needs to get tossed.

Jumps, the new ambush jump line is not perfect I understand that. Alot of it has to deal with the amount of snow we had blown and the angle of the slope given to us. All the jumps will be moved down hill a good distance to avoid speed issues next season.

You must understand that the way big sky decides to budget there money is not up to us. Your voice counts by emailing big sky and explaining your frustration. Or if you are a employee actually go to the town hall meetings and talk about these things. But do it professionally remember the people reading emails or listening to you are usually a group of people that do not like parks or don't understand them.

Daphne, come on now you are better that that. Lets not talk shit about what departments don't do anything.

As many people do not know is that we dont just do terrain parks here. As of this year we take care of all the events ( dummy jump, snow bar, pond skim) Also now are cat drivers are having to build race courses and winching steep trails. There is more going on that you may think.

With any concerns you may have or ideas id like to here from you, You can shoot me a email anytime

Thanks

Nate

In defense of Daphne, its not talking shit if its true...i agree completely. And the park just needs to be set up with common sense...put features in a line so you can flow between them, not have to stop after a feature then hike 10 feet back up to hit the next....and the jump in swifty literally needs 6 inches of lip. That takes 2 hours to fix with a shovel.

Thank you for coming in here and addressing the issues we've all brought up. I admit I was a bit harsh, this whole not being able to ski has turned me into quite the bitter little cunt and for that I apologize. I should have brought up my frustrations in a more gracious manner and talked to you personally about them. I really appreciate the time you took to talk about each problem and commend you for it. Interestied to see what you guys can whip up this summer rail-wise

jump got 6 inches taller last night, dont complain if you over shoot it now there was no snow to build a bigger landing
