big sporting goods stores...

i would never think to rip off shops, but what's the general concensus about the big ass chain-sporting good stores (that carry everything strictly at retail, will do nothing to help hook you up, don't stand behind their repair work, etc)? like some old-fashioned walking out with stuff/switching price tags, and the like. i mean, they've already paid the ski companies for the goods, so it's not like they'd (the companies) would be losing money, right?

I was at sport check, just checking stuff out, and noticed that the Rossi Scratches were priced at 30% above retail (i know this because I work in a shop... where we don't scam peoples asses), and then had a big 30% off sticker on it. Bastards. So watch out when you get stuff from big shops, you never know if you're really getting your moneys worth or not (I guess this applies to other shops too, but I've only really seen it in bigger ones)

like 4-5 years ago my friend walked into a major sporting good store and grabbed 4 pairs of the blue 1080s, threw them over his shoulder and walked out.

 
U just have to be an educated shopper!

Plus why do they keep having a new model ski, when it is the same thing as the old one exept with different grafics. So you have to buy a new pair every year to fit in??

 
Yeah, i think those sporting goods stores suck ass. I think your best bet is to compare prices to MSRP. You should NEVER pay more than 75% of MSRP if you want to get a good deal. Support core shops becasue they get you what the rider wants.

Hey I bought a 1080 last year in Sporting Life.

I over paid for it. But then that 1080 snapped on me in half. I had a brand new pair of Armadas within a week and a left over store credit. So I can't really complain. The service is fucking there.

 
those fuckers at sport check took one look at me and told me where the snowboards were. fuck them allllll.
