Big sky opening day..

So, big sky is opening on thanksgiving this year. This is my first season here in bozeman. Curious as to what it's going to look like? Is it worth going for first chair, or can I expect that people will be camping in the parking lot? Any tips on where to get the best skiing in the early season conditions?

Big Sky's terrain is very rocky, early season is full of sharks, expect groomers on opening day unless it snows 10 ft in November.

This. If you’re wanting to ski then, buy a Bridger pass while they’re still on sale (if you don’t already have one), save the bases on your skis and go there instead because opening day last year was blower.

Yup! Got the bridger pass. Also, I’m going to be finishing the season as an 18 year old still, so I got to save money with the youth pass. Just figured I’d say pass this one time to check it out.

True that, I’ve learned that lesson from spring skiing there. Definitely gonna use my trash skis on thanksgiving.

I know you've been to canyons, so you're lying.

What, you don't like moving laterally across a mountain?

Blows my mind that there are people that strictly ski The Canyons, I met a ton of people last year where thats all they ever skied when they came out here. Its odd. Like it has fun terrain but its a bitch to get too and almost not worth all the time it takes to get over to it.

I remember right after buyout and when we started to connect the two one of the marketing pushes was “park and canyons and be able to ski to Main Street for lunch” ...or something similar to that. I think the actual logistics of that were like double the amount of lift time to ski time, eat, rush back to make it to car before lift closes.
