Big Sky/Moonlight 14-15

I'm probably going to school at MSU next year. I skied big sky during Christmas and was a little bummed moonlights park wasn't even set up by then. When do they usually get moonlights park set up because I heard it is better than big skys? Also do they put up better bigger jumps later in the season? Was kinda bummed by lack of jumps

It's all dependant on snow, we don't have snowmaking in the parks and they have to farm way more snow than you'd expect to put in features. We have both parks set up now, both have jumps. If you're coming to Montana expecting a park the same quality as Breck then you're in the wrong place.
 
Booking a last minute trip out for spring break. Anyone know a way to save on tickets? Didnt know id be going until a few days ago and they stopped selling sky cards in november.

I would luvvvv one or two of those! Don't want to claim them all but pretty sure the discount through the freeride comp I'm going for isn't as good of a deal
 
Contrary to popular belief, we have no intention of shutting down early. All the department's are gonna try their hardest to limp us through til the 19th

My friends and I take saftey VERY seriously So seriously, that we conduct saftey meetings every third run. We even have them on the chair sometimes too!

Just saw an overview of the park right now for that comp. it looks insane! So sick, anybody know how big thiose jumps are? I just hope the park will always look similar to this when I go out to school there next year. That jump line looks so fun, I love big jumps. Huge improvement from when I was there last.

As long as Adam keeps running the parks the jump game will be on point. Dude knows how to build a park, it's awesome.

I wish everyone was always so stoked about a few inches of wet, nasty glop. I was smiling all damn day on Tuesday, but you couldn't tell because it was covered in snow :)

Dunno where you were but the pow day I skied was 15+ inches of fun and face shots on head waters

How are things looking around the North Fork and/or Beehive trailheads? I'm thinking of making a go at Gallatin Peak Friday or Saturday, but haven't been in the area in a while.

I just go back from a rail sesh in lower beehive trail head and the snow is fast and fairly edgeable. Starting to get really thin. Look out for logs and shit in the trees.

north fork is fucked but beehive is still holding snow, a bit thin but not terrible
 
Great! Hopefully I'm more successful on this attempt; I'm going to try and go light and just do it in a day this time around.
 
Gonna be up in Big Sky/Bozeman April 17th-20th for closing weekend and to look at places and do an interview or three. So stoked to ride a new mountain! How are the chutes off the tram skiing right now? Are they warming up or still pretty solid and icy?

If anyone wants to rip around and play tour guide to me or get some beers let me know!

it could be good or bad, depends we are getting snowstorms then it warms up. so it depends, park is really nice right now though.

Well April 18th is pond skim, so what you're probably gonna want to do is dress up in a ridiculous costume, get piss hammered, and see how well your pow skis float.
 
What are surface conditions like right now? soft, variable, spring? Inquiring minds want to know which pair of skis to bring this week.

It was actually pretty decent today thanks to the 3-6 inches we picked up overnight. Still not enough to completely cover the chunder on lower mountain but the tram was skiing well. It was kind of chilly today too, so there shouldn't have been any freeze thaw going on up top.
 
Im heading up Friday in the AM, will be skiing Saturday and skimming too if anyone wants to meet up! Ill also be checking out the Bozeman scene too seeing what its gonna be like when I move up there come June.

Also if anyone here like to shoot, Ill be bringing my rifle and new handgun if it gets here in time for my departure. Who wants to join.

i'll be around, working but shredding. lets take some laps!

also there is a neat little shooting range in the canyon, in between the riverhouse and the 320 guest ranch. not a bad place to take the guns out

Also my buddy is flaking out on the couch for me to crash on to go somewhere with his big bootied Brazilian gf. If anyone in the Big Sky village has a couch/floor I could crash on thatd be sweet! Will repay you for sure!

hell of a season everyone, bummer the snow situation never really cooperated but regardless I had a wonderful time. cheers, here's to the next one
 
damn good season. some surprisingly decent snow the last few weeks. now its chill for two weeks> road trip cross country> puerto rico for a week> back in time to ski the beartooths
