Hey looking for a big mountain pow oriented ski my budget is about 700. I like a buttery playful ski that i can ski on pow days to hard pack days. k+ for suggestions!

Don't know what size you are looking for but I am selling some brand new 180 Icelantic gypsys, some brand new 193 volkl Shiros, and also a set of 188 armada Bubbas ridden 5 days.

You're looking for a playful and buttery big mountain ski?

thats not really a thing...

I'm betting Pettitors are what your looking for though

Thats like asking for a super buttery pure jump ski. Just doesnt work like that.

Buuuut I second the Pettitors.

Check out the bibbys. They are super strong and chargy but they are also playful. I have them and they are my favorite ski. pm zphoto about them. He has good things to say

I second that. They're a big ski, but they're still super playful and smeary. For a fat ski, they're actually addictingly fun to rip groomers on too.

Read: I want a ski that gives out on me when I lean into it and seriously charge on it.

Buttery/Playful and Big Mountain go together like Chocolate Milk and Diet Sierra Mist.

Undefined.

Elaborate on big mountain ski. Sometimes the best powder skis don't double as great big mountain skis, but it depends on what sort of "big mountain" skiing you're doing. Generally a true big mountain ski is going to run a little narrower and a little stiffer than your average luxury pow ski. There is definitely some overlap but in general I see them as two seperate categories of ski.

Big Mountain Skis:

Salomon Rocker 2 115

ON3P Billy Goat

Nordica Helldorado

Atomic Automatic

Moment Bibby, etc.

Powder Skis:

K2 Pettitor or Hellbent

Nordica Patron

Line Opus

Armada JJ

Salomon Rocker 2 122, etc.

Sorry to thread jack guys but im looking for ski take to the world cup for down hill, I like to ski switch and jib rails.

any ideas?

I hear that Armada JJs can lay down a nice carving turn. Have not ridden them though. My advice would be to head over to TGR and ask the folks there. You'll get more in-depth advice if you so desire. If not, NS is great.

Surface New Life. Those things can smear pow, stomp lines, and rip groomers, bumps, and rails. Hands down the most fun and versatile ski I've ever used. Plus they're bomber as fuck.

Nordica Patron or Faction 3.Zero. patron is more playful, but they both charge in all conditions, not just powder.

IMO go with the Pettitors. Kinda soft but still can charge hard, plus it's 120 under foot so it'll float on those deep days. It's what i ride.Side note: Collin Collins rode last years Pettitors in the park so it's a pretty versatle ski

If your going to buy a chargerish ski from armada, look into the Norwalk, not the jj. The jj's a great ski, but its sidecut isnt designed to be a charger. Also look into salomon rocker2 115 or atomic automatic. These skis all have more rocker in the tips than tails (no tail rocker in the norwalk) so they're definately more directional, but the litttle bit of tail rocker allows you to smear your turns and make them more playful, if you so choose

What is op calling big mtn? True 1000 vertical faces while maching down or a simpler 50 foot chute to runout to trees the other 2500 feet down? Def changes the game depending on what you ski more of.
