Big Brother is spying on you!!!

Not that this is anything new, but if you are a Verizon customer, your phone records may be being watched. How does a law like the Patriot Act(ironic name) get through Congress. I hate the feeling of having to have confidence in a piece of paper, when in reality, it does absolutely nothing. The government will do as they wish no matter what. If Obama is to do anything in his 8 years in office, he will get rid of this abomination of a law. The downfall of this country is coming quicker and quicker.http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/06/06/18796204-critical-tool-top-lawmakers-defend-nsa-snooping-on-verizon-phone-records#comments

old news. countless other presidents have presumably done this, just not been caught.

Think of the patriot act.

otherwise, stfu

I can't imagine how conceited the person who sincerely believes their conversations are important or interesting enough for the government to listen in on must be.

Damn right I do, come on over to my place tonight bb

If I said this is old news, how am I "living in a hole"? think about the stuff you say before you say it, bud

Most likely we are going to learn that it wasn't just Verizon and the guy who wrote the Patriot Act said that it was never intended for this.

NSA - demanding phone records for 10 million people.

Justice department - wire tapping journalists' and their parents' phones. Also raided Gibson Guitar company with assault rifles, because Gibson may have imported wood which was considered banned. Really it was because the CEO for Gibson contributed to Romney's campaign.

IRS - Spends over $50 million on conferences and perks for employees at the same time that Fire Fighters and police officers are being furloughed (having to take unpaid days off, because the government didn't have the money to pay them). Also, admittedly targeting conservative groups, demanding names of their donors and then giving the list to liberal group, who them harass these donors(IRS has actually committed a felony here).

State department - makes special forces units stand down and doesn't allow them to attempt to rescue Americans in Benghazi and lets them be killed.

EPA - admits that they gave preferential treatment to liberal leaning organizations.

Maybe people are finally starting to get it. That severe pounding sensation in your asshole; that's Obama.

Just saying, if you're sitting around sincerely believing that your existence is important enough for the government to want to spy on you must be pretty fucking conceited.

I'm not saying I like Obama (which I don't), but he wasn't dishonest. He's just clever with his wording. He said "illegal wire tapping" and "people who aren't suspected of a crime". Well now it is legal and pretty much anyone can be 'suspected for a crime' with the right lawyer.

It's bullshit, I know.

He is saying get over it. Do you really think the government is listening to your phone calls? Like you personally? Because no they aren't. There are more important issues at hand.

Yeah because of any of you have read and understand George Orwell. It makes me sick to see such fine reading slandered in popular culture by skitards.

DUH, this is not new shit. There is a reason why you don't text or say certain things at any time. Assume everything is tapped, real talk.

its pretty insane how much shit the government does and gets away with that is completely illegal and unacceptable yet nothing is done about it, nobody is punished, and nobody stops them. the only people with power to stop them or punish them are probably completely corrupt anyway. everything is fucked.

Try the entire presidency you blind fool. I don't understand how you can label Obama as the worst in that aspect. It simply makes no sense.

You'd be surprised what's technically legal.

All the legislation pass under lovely names that actually goes smash smash smash on the constitution. Rights are something to be looked at from a historical standpoint and wonder what it was like to have them.

I don't think it is worth a new thread, but there is a new issue with the EPA now.

Apparently the EPA, collected personal information from American farmers and ranchers and then gave that info to extreme environmentalist groups. These are groups similar to E.L.F. who burnt down the original 2 ELK lodge at the top of China Bowl at Vail. They could have burned down thousands of acres of old growth trees in the process. Their reason for burning down 2 Elk was that skiing in that area was interfering with mating habits of the Lynx.

There are some people in these groups who are clearly off their collective nut. A bipartisan group of 24 lawmakers is looking into the possibility that this could endangered our food supply. The concern is that these groups could have targeted certain growers and possibly contaminated crops in an effort to hurt the growers financially. It is too early to tell if that happened, but it is pretty scary.

The only blind fool is you if you're more concerned about a dead president who was in office nearly a century ago.

I know there's still this desperate attempt to protect Obama, but it's getting increasingly pathetic. Harding was a saint in comparison.

last time I checked Obama was actually doing stuff in office. Harding basically treated his term as a huge house party with mad hookers.

I'm no fan of Barack either but saying he's the worst is just so wrong in so many ways.

i thought they only listen or care if you say trigger word like "bomb" or "terrorist." im not sure, but if this is so, i dont really care because it can save many innocent lives from terrorist attacks.

This. I had to read it in high school. I remember that my English teacher asked me what I thought about it, and I told him it was the most depressing book I had ever read. He said, it was good then, because it had a profound effect on you.

Unfortunately, I think that we are getting way too close to a 1984 like society. The government has used the weight of the IRS, EPA and the Justice Department to intimidate people just because they disagreed politically with the current administration. It's kind of ironic that the NSA thing is proving to be such a big deal. IMO the other things are way worse.

I'm convinced the government has a file on each and everyone one of us. They know are bank statements, our addresses, our phone and text conversations, the internet sites that we visit, who we vote for. They know it all. The biggest threat to a government is it's own people, so it makes sense that they would want to know everything about us.
