i’m moving to socal and i’m pretty sure big bear is the closest place for me to ski, how is it for park skiing

Big Bear has a fire park, tons of random gapers and cali bros but I always enjoyed my time up there.

Park is sick, you’ll have a good time. Total shit show on weekends though. Used to hit Bear more when I didn’t have the time or coin to trip to Mammoth.

Bear Mountain is great if you like smelling marijuana, seeing empty alcohol containers scattered around, and larping as a black person. Also hearing constant garbage rap music blaring from a backpack. Snow Summit is more civilized and has better terrain. Both are about 80/20 snowboarder-skier split. Probably the only North American resorts where you’ll see more snowboarders than skiers.

80/20? I’d say closer to 90-95% snowboarders. Being a skier there is like riding a ski bike anywhere else.

That being said it’s a fun spot when crowds aren’t too bad. The park is usually pretty fun but they don’t really move stuff around much so it can get kinda repetitive after a while. I definitely enjoy snow summit a bit more over bear but they’re not incredibly different by any means. If you ever wanna ski just hmu, I’ll be there pretty regularly this season.

Agree with the above.

Snow Summit is my spot. It’s a bit bigger ( meaning small not super small) the park is solid and well taken care of, and usually not crazy busy. There’s a couple NS guys around, check out the Socal thread in the regionals. Tried to get that going again.
