Is there any big enough backpacks out there to get like a couple o weeks gear plus skis and boots on? i have no idea if like camping size ski carry bags exist.. but if anyone knows of one ++karma

I know they mame back packs that hold your boots inside and have a loop or something to stick you skis and poles in also. I don't know what they are called though.

transpacks bold boots on the outside and gear on the inside. not sure about something that has ski carry as well. no you have me interested

well the plan is to travel around europe, visiting a few glaciers as well as other places, i'm gonna be on trains so a backpack would be much better than a big travel ski bag.. but maybe what i'm looking for doesn't exist.. it would be like a backpack with enough room for ski pants and a shell jacket + like clothes for a week.. with ski/boot carry..

well then I would think you'd be wanting a big travel backpack, a ski bag and a hiking pack. Reasoning being I doubt you'll be lugging your entire trips worth of gear up and down glaciers so the ability to separate your gear is pretty key. Your skis will always be the same size so having them constantly strapped to you pack will make it extremely awkward on trains to maneuver around. A large pack on your back is quite easy, and having your skis in their own bag you can work those around either slung over your shoulder or find a way to strap them on your pack as needed. I have a 65 liter pack that has enough volume to hold a pair of ski boots and up to 2 weeks worth of gear, and skis can A-Frame up the sides if needed. A slightly larger pack would probably be a good way to go for longer trips

yeh seperating the skis makes sense i guess.. and obviously i'm not gonna take all my gear on to the glacier every day.. boots are more of a problem i guess cos they take up a lot of volume.. but i guess just stuff them full of socks and that and take less gear.. external boot carry would be really good to minimize loss of space but i guess that probably doesnt exist short of tieing them on which would be a pain.. i can just lug the skis around on my shoulder i reckon..
