Big Air Tricks

Alright i can't find a thread about this anywhere else so im gonna ask it. What are some good amateur tricks i should learn for a amateur big air comp. there are 3 runs and i was thinking if i could learn a 540, backflip, and lincoln or rodeo i should do alright. am i on the right track? or what would be better(keeping in mind this is my first year of freestyle)

send me links to another thread if there is one on the same topic...

+k for helpful responses

-k for negative responses

Have you learnt those tricks already? If this is your first year of freestyle I'd be stoked for you even if you learnt 360s. If you've landed those tricks try getting good grabs and consistency with the 540s and rodeos.

generally people dont lincoln when they cant do 5s. not trying to be negative just advice.

yeah i know some people who can cork 7 no prob, but if it comes to hitting a big jump and doing a smooth 3 , not even corked, its always scketcy wit no grab. so ya its just personal preference people learn tricks in crazy orders these days too....

Thank you everyone whos commented and no i have not learned these yet, i can do 360's and have thrown a couple backflips but i am going to my mountains freestyle camp soon and i wanted to make sure thats what i should ork on while i was there.

get your basic straight airs down & circumvent the whole 'tech' aspect of your career.... just learn to do liu kangs as a statement everywhere you go & kids will start respecting you regardless.

Just think of the best trick you could possibly learn within the timeframe you have, and go for it. since you can do 360s, you can definitely work on making them smooth, throwing grabs in there, and bringing it up to a 5. If you can backflip, you can learn a rodeo too, but that may take a little longer. Really though, nobody can tell you what you can and can't learn. Big air comps are usually spin to win, so there shouldn't be any confusion as to what would be more likely to win. So think of the gnarliest trick you feel comfortable learning, and send it!

if you can lincoln with eaz then i would try a flat five...it basically the same thing off the jump only you tweak your hips and look behind you

Is this a competition or just a big jump to have fun on? Best trick I think for comps is a switch cork, but on a regular jump, people really like flatspins

look

the only way you will ever win this big-air comp is by throwing a dub mute 10. that's the only way. added rotations are optional but at that point you may be entering future spin territory. inexperienced users of future spins can bring great destruction upon the world if they do happen to reach future spin speed, so I would stay with the dub 10...

the judges will be blown away.

thanks for all the responces and +k. and this is for a competition. im just wondering what the judges like that is possible for me to learn pretty easily

My go to trick is a slow ass 3 with a tweaked out tail grab.

Also comps are where people tend to push themselves and stomp tricks they didn't know they had.

At least I do.

alright sweet, i just didnt know if a 3 would be good enough, hopefully by the time i compete ill have a 5 and backflip tho

If it's an amateur event, aren't inverts not allowed? Cause my local hill is holding a big air and they said that since it's not a USSA sanctioned event that their insurance is different or something. And if they say that they allow inverts and somebody gets hurt then the hill has to close down or the owner has to leave or some shit.

What are future spins (new to skiing :s)

Anyways I would say if you wanna look clean and it's your first throw down some smooth switch 5's, a 7 and that rodeo.
