Bidders For Moonlight?

Towards the end of this ski season i had heard rumors of possible bidders for moonlight basin, the three main ones i heard was Vail, Whistler, and Boyne, not sure if thats how its spelled but big sky basically. anyway i was wondering if anybody else had heard or knew of any others bidders and if these rumors are even true.

last i heard it was just vail, whistler and boyne. i'm hoping boyne gets it, the last thing montana needs is a vail resort

boyne would most likely make moonlight big sky and incraese pass prices. so do you really want boyne owning the most hidden jem in montana because i would prefer whistler to buy it out, then atleast there would be ticket exchanges between moonlight and whistler. i also heard if vail buys moonlight it will be added to the ultimate ski package, so you would be able to ski vail, keystone, breck, tahoe, ect...

I think Whistler buying it would be the only good option. Boyne would slowly ruin it the way they have Big Sky, Vail would quickly ruin it the way they do, and Whistler would probably just manage it well. They would probably invest in substantial nearby real estate which would bring in more tourist dollars for the resort, but not clog up the lifts and powder.

But regardless of what happens, if I somehow get screwed over for buying next years pass early I will be so sad.

wouldn't this also ruin the most hidden gem in montana? adding a resort to the package will only bring more tourists. I'd be fine if Whistler got it, that would probably be the best option. But Boyne owning it would still be better than Vail

yeah it probably would, i would mostly prefer it whistler bought it out but, i would rather vail have it than boyne, but thats coming from a park skiers view. i do agree though

SP is so small and lame, but i guess it would be a decent addition to them. I'm surprised Big Sky didn't just shell out for the little additional acreage.

Its not really all that surprising. Big Sky has plenty of low angle acreage similar to Spanish Peaks, and by absorbing the resort, they would have to absorb the additional facilities and properties. IMHO Big Sky is sitting well right where it is without expanding, simply because of the tram terrain and summer stuff. I would love to see Moonlight become employee owned, that would be sick.

My rough understanding is that Cross Harbor, the company who bought the Yellowstone Club, now owns Moonlight as well. Somebody else will run the mountain under them. So in a backdoor way the YC owns moonlight.

Spanish peaks is really just access to big sky from all the property over there. SP also has a great golf course.

Also, the Pinnacle restaurant at the top of Ramcharger will be open again next year. Maybe this means more people will go to Andesite (shit, if they stop riding Swifty I'm a-ok with that)

Supposedly there is some wealthy man from like the east coast I think. I have family involved with boyne property, recently in one of the meetings they were told that Boyne looked into but will not be buying Moonlight

Pretty sure Boyne purchased it, and Big Sky will be operating it. Should be nice, such a pretty building that has just sat vacant for 2 years.

^Boyne did not buy Moonlight. Its unfortunate that one day soon moonlight will no longer have that mom and pop local mountain feel to it.
